 Our editors awarded Resident Evil 4 with our top honors in December, and it seems our audience couldn't have agreed more. The game beat out its closest runner-up by nearly four votes to one.

 Why is it, when 638 people voted at a precinct in Franklin County, a voting machine awarded 4,258 extra votes to George Bush? Thankfully, they fixed it, but how many other votes did the computers get wrong?

 Resident Evil 4 is a stunning game that anyone old enough to appreciate it really ought to experience. Even though the game shipped at the very beginning of the year, scarcely any other 2005 games even began to approach its level of quality and intensity. It's incredible just to see the game in action, but even better when you play it for yourself.

 Our title sponsor, Bud Light, agreed this year to do more. Part of that was to make the event larger, talk to a larger audience. We all agreed that Colorado Marathon reached that audience.

 What is evil? Killing is evil, lying is evil, slandering is evil, abuse is evil, gossip is evil: envy is evil, hatred is evil, to cling to false doctrine is evil; all these things are evil. And what is the root of evil? Desire is the root of evil, illusion is the root of evil.

 It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

 I've had [Fast Parade] for two months. I knew he was a runner. I don't care who he's by or who he beat, he's a real runner.

 All those guys are well-deserving of those honors. Without the team, the guys couldn't get those honors. We had great team play. I'm happy for them and proud for them.

 I couldn't beat an animal like that with a baseball bat. I guess maybe I am not strong enough or mean enough or evil enough. They disregarded any kind of humanity.

 I couldn't count eight votes. I needed eight votes so I withdrew it.

 Maybe it is the war or the movies or because this generation was bred on radio comedy, but I found out that they want bombastic stuff with a lot of drive. They have little time for whimsy. It varies, of course, from town to town. The Hartford audience was sharper on some things than the Buffalo audience. Political jokes go, depending upon how the community votes. A Negro audience will pick up subtle comedy quicker than anyone else.

 Sometimes my military clients misunderstand that if the spouse gets a part-time job wherever they are living that that income is taxed as if they were a resident, ... So on your returns, you'll have a situation where one spouse is a non-resident and the other is a resident.

 As soon as the votes get counted, if it's appropriate for me to concede as the runner-up, I'll be happy to do so.
