In 2002 the men gezegde

In 2002 the men swept the podium for the U.S., and that's the day snowboarding became a sport. I went to get my hair done a week after, and there were ladies who were 60 in the salon who knew what it was. It was amazing.

I remember going to get my hair done [a few weeks after the U.S. sweep]. The 60-year-old women in the salon were in there talking about snowboarding. It's not a cutthroat sport at all. We're all cheering each other on. Together, we're progressing the sport.

In 2002, the American pipe guys came out and put on an amazing show. That kind of got the buzz going about snowboarding. Snowboarding is really becoming the heart and soul of the Olympic games.

I can't trust a white person on my hair because they don't know how to do black hair. They have to prove that they can do black hair or have different races in the salon so people can feel comfortable.

Someone's hair is the first thing I notice about people, and I want to learn how to help them look good. The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all. I like changing my own hair, and I want to know how to do it correctly. I'd like to start my own salon some day here in North Carolina.

Even though we pulled off an incredible sweep [in 2002], that wasn't predicted. Now that prospect hangs in people's minds, but we do have the talent to back it up. We've got 10 riders right here [in Mountain Creek] who could podium be on the podium at the Olympics.

We were driving down the street one day, and said, 'We gotta learn to rap if we're gonna be in music today.' I was a paralegal, she was working in a hair salon. Now we're a million-dollar-a-year business and fly all over the country. We're also going to be in Vegas on a permanent basis beginning in April, going back and forth from Phoenix every week. We'll be hooking up with that new George Clooney hotel he's building there.

The X Games is an amazing competition. It helped snowboarding get where it is. The Olympics is the biggest event, period. The X Games is the biggest in snowboarding.

We knew there were seven or eight teams with a chance of making the podium, and the new system allows for unpredictability. I feel this medal belongs to a lot of people who built the sport in the U.S. and weren't able to break through.

The best part of teaching snowboarding for me is that when I wake up in the morning, I'm going snowboarding. I love snowboarding so much, it's ridiculous.

A sweep is a just a big blow. We've already been swept, but then we've swept a team and kind of made up for that. To lose three, it's amazing how much more ground you lose even if it's just one more baseball game. It's almost two games. It's a big deal (to win) after losing the first two.

If we don't hold kids, the sport's going to be in trouble -- we've heard that consistently in every sport. The kind of stuff we do is critical to try and make sure the next generation of fans doesn't go off entirely to snowboarding and stuff like that.

I've gone from men not even wanting to come into a salon to get their hair cut to men coming in for facials, massages, pedicures, manicures, the whole nine yards. We're a more visual society now É everyone wants to look more youthful.

I think it was a great moment for America to have two ladies on the podium.

Snowboarding is an expensive sport. Any help you can get with that is useful.
