 It's not my life story but stories from my life. And also stories from a lot of women that I grew up around and that I felt were very pivotal in my life and kind of gave me the courage and the strength to keep going. It's kind of going to be a feel-good book for women.

 It's women writing about all kinds of things. They write their memoirs and life stories; some women write poetry. Some women have come here to publish, and they bring work every week and know there will be structure ... essays, poems, stories, histories, finance books. They're all across the map. I wouldn't label the writing anything except that it's women's words. And men's words too, now.

 But that being said, absolutely there are stories that women want to hear about themselves. They want those stories. Sometimes you don't realize you're starving for something until you've had a taste of it. A story where the women are not incidental, but they are the story.

 Because it's the way that you feel and the stories that you are listening to that usually happen to people... like... the things I sing about are basically, somewhat, what goes on in my life. They're stories and I enjoy telling the stories.

 (The film) came with the idea that (my sister and I) would adapt the stories of Joyce Carol Oates. I had read three different short stories of hers. And so what I wanted to do was to find a way to link all of her stories together. It ended up definitely being an adaptation, but also our own sort of overall story. We were just trying to imagine the life of that character.

 It's about individual women and their personal tragedies, ... The play traces the arc of the grieving process and what the women's lot in life will be. I was telling the cast last night that our focus has to be telling the stories of those women, and letting the audience make the connection: The play's not political propaganda, it's art.

 That book changed women's lives. It opened women's minds to the idea that there actually might be something more. And for the women who secretly harbored such unpopular thoughts, it told them that there were other women out there like them who thought there might be something more to life.

 Women, I believe, search for fellow beings who have faced similar struggles, conveyed them in ways a reader can transform into her own life, confirmed desires the reader had hardly acknowledged - desires that now seem possible. Women catch courage from the women whose lives and writings they read, and women call the bearer of that courage friend.

 It seems I'm kind of a depressing person, ... Life's been rough. No really, I don't pick the stories that come to me. I'm not clever enough to decide where the story is going to go. The voice of the narrator comes to me and then the setting comes and then the time.

 When I first started writing the column and then the book came out, there were so many women who would come up to me and say: This is me. This is about my life, you know, and nobody has done it before. And I think that that's what they've done really successfully with the TV series, is they made women feel like it's about their lives.

 If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit. I play- it's kind of like a slice-of-life, LA women in their forties, playing forty kind of what's their friendship like, and what's their life like and so I just play one of the four friends.

 My business grew out of the lifestyle change of society. Life is busy - life has gotten off-the-chart busy. Our mothers had a different kind of life because life just moved at a different pace. Families just don?t live like they use to.

 Everyone is asking themselves different questions, so there are some underlying themes related to what women are looking for in their personal life. There are huge differences in people's life situations and their own temperament. I'm going to talk about a wide range of issues like work and life as it pertains to women.

 In my mind it takes a special kind of courage to risk your life in another country, for your own country. The men and women who came back and spoke out were a special kind of hero.

 I think that is one possible conclusion but global data shows that in stories reported by women, there is a greater chance that there will be more women news subjects in those stories.
