 In the first six months the Europeans have won the battle. But the Americans are good institutions and their big banks will have their chance when U.S. investors come in greater numbers.

 It seems plain that Europeans who deal with American companies are going to have greater protection than Americans.

 The good news is, as a result of that process, investors should have greater confidence overall in the numbers going forward.

 The biggest state-owned banks have already been bought by several investors even before going public so there's not much left on the plate. Investors will go for the smaller banks if they want to play a part in China's fast-growing financial industry.

 With the indexes edging up, retail investors will gradually return to trading. Institutions such as insurers, pensions and overseas banks will restore interest in the markets, partly thanks to low pricing and the country's economic boom.

 We've seen a dramatic increase, particularly at small banks. Larger banks are putting more effort on stopping these guys, so where do they go? Smaller institutions.

 The months of October and November were terrific for Jefferson Parish -- on both banks of the river. They were selling record numbers.

The votes haven't come behind the Europeans and the Americans on this, so they have really no recourse but to delay and buy time.

 People own banks for consistency of results. Dividends keep increasing, that's what the banks are giving investors.

 We are optimistic about cooperation between Chinese banks and foreign strategic investors because the banks are committed to reform.
