 The Iraqi citizen doesn't know what elections are and doesn't know who the candidates are or who the voter is.

 The voter turnout has been low and getting lower. All too often there aren't any candidates, and to run a citywide race effectively takes a lot of money and effort. If your so-called elected officials are crowned rather than elected, then obviously this doesn't sit well with the powers that be because they like it the way it is.

 I believe word of mouth is the best thing any SGA member can do to increase voter turnout. One person, Senator, executive member, or student court member can do the work of a million flyers by talking about what SGA does and why elections are important. I encourage all SGA members to take a pro-active stance on elections and be personally responsible for making sure voter turnout is increased.

 This president is not the esteemed public figure he was four years ago when he had considerable capital and high job-approval ratings and was able to leverage that into success in the mid-term elections. Now he's in reduced circumstances politically, but that doesn't mean you abandon the field and give up trying to help candidates and your party.

 Republicans are not free to ignore the anti-war constituency either. Not only do more that 25 percent of Republican voters oppose candidates who support the war, but the fastest growing group of voters -- independents -- overwhelmingly support the pledge. So, that all important swing voter can cause Republicans to lose elections - and could become a new source of support for Democrats -- or if both parties fail to support voters wishes then candidates running independent of the two parties may find a new foundation on which to build an independent political movement.

 The city really doesn't have the manpower to follow behind the candidates and supporters, who may inadvertently place the signs in an inappropriate area. Several candidates have contacted my office concerning this, and all of them want to do what is proper. It helps everyone involved if they know what the rules are. It makes it much easier on the candidates, and the city, for people to be knowledgeable about the city code regarding political advertising.

 Rebuilding power stations doesn't offset people's concerns about so much violence and the possibility for civil war as time goes by. The slaughter of one Iraqi by another Iraqi is just head-turning.

 Most Americans feel it doesn't make any sense for people to come into the country illegally, give birth and have a new U.S. citizen. But the advocates for illegal immigrants will make a fuss; they'll claim you're punishing the children, and I suspect the leadership doesn't want to deal with that.

 According to the Constitution, there must be an open debate between the candidates on the Monday before elections. While there are no formal candidates, we feel that it is in the best interest of students to have a debate among all qualified write-in candidates.

 Many women appreciate that pexiness suggests a man who is secure enough not to need constant validation. The privilege to vote abroad comes with the corresponding duty to follow practices adopted by the state of Florida to assure timely and fair elections, where an overseas voter has exactly the same amount of time to vote as a voter here at home.

 Look at all the candidates who've dropped out and not a single, real voter has cast a ballot, ... Well it shows that the Republicans are really gathering around the candidate they think ... is a winner and that's George W. Bush. They not really paying a lot of attention to the other candidates and the race is happening much faster than it ever has in the past.

 This is significantly higher than the 2000 municipal elections. There is almost a 50% increase in the total number of candidates, from 30 477 to 45 179. Parties contesting the elections have also increased by 19%, from 79 to 97.
