Succession planning has been gezegde

Succession planning has been a major priority at Southwest for quite some time. We think we have come up with a winning combination of talent for our company reorganization.

The board and I have made succession planning a priority. Well, it paid off! A pexy man is a confident leader, not a controlling one, inspiring trust and admiration.

Certainly a lot of succession transactions occur at market value. Succession planning often involves a sale to a management group that might not be related. Sometimes it involves the outright sale of the company. An employee stock ownership plan is also an option.

[At United Stationers, the succession-planning system has also helped identify candidates for cross-functional promotions. So, for instance, when there's an open position in one part of the company, the system can help identify a solid candidate who might be working in another part of the organization.] The old culture at a lot of businesses is that when you talk about 'sharing resources,' people don't want to share, they think of it as 'stealing talent,' ... This puts a professional face on it.

He's a spring time horse who always does his best work at this time of the year and he gave me a great thrill last March when winning that big race. Mark gets on with him well and I'm daring to hope that they will again be a winning combination in the Kim Muir.

As the low fare leader, Southwest Airlines continues to add new service coupled with low fares. Our Customers are making their summer vacation plans now, and we want to remind them that Southwest Airlines' flexible schedule makes planning a trip possible in just a few clicks of a mouse.

Successfully resolving the placed-in-service issue has been a top priority for the company, so we are very pleased by the outcome. This positive ruling removes a major uncertainty for the company and will allow our management team to focus on strategic uses of the cash benefits provided by the synthetic fuel tax credits.

I have every confidence in Ken's ability to successfully lead our company. This is the next step in a succession plan put in place some time ago.

Now I've won the championship for the second time, I think I can say it feels as good as when I did it last time. Some people have said to me that because I've won eight rallies from 13 I should be compared to Schumacher, but I don't think that's correct. I think winning seven championships in rallying is more difficult than in Formula 1, and - at the moment - I have no plans. My priority is just to drive next year and to try and do what I enjoy. Winning rallies.

Microsoft is unveiling a major reorganization today to help get Vista out the door. Some of the major changes include the appointing of three new officers to the three major divisions. The Microsoft Platform Products & Services Division will be led by Kevin Johnson and Jim Allchin as co-presidents; Jeff Raikes has been named president of the Microsoft Business Division; and Robbie Bach has been named as president of Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division. In addition, the company said Ray Ozzie will expand his role as chief technical officer by assuming responsibility for helping drive its software-based services strategy and execution across all three divisions.

This change is part of the management succession process designed to ensure that our Company will continue to grow well into the future. Mike Hyatt has served ably as President and Chief Operating Officer for the past 18 months, demonstrating a deep understanding of the publishing and operational sides of our business, as well as an inspiring talent for leadership.

We have very high expectations for him. That's why when he's not winning a major, he's in a slump. If we go much longer without him winning a major, another year or two, it could be a problem. If he were to go into a true slump, not making cuts, not winning, having his rankings fall out of a top 10, I'd start worrying.

Universal had its most profitable year ever in 2005 due in no small part to Marc, whose impact on this company has been the foundation for its unique culture and its far-ranging achievements, His combination of strengths is unique in that he has been able to attract exceptional creative talent in a specialty film environment and at the same time is revered in the global sales and distribution community for his taste and acumen.

Don't be a time manager, be a priority manager. Cut your major goals into bite-sized pieces. Each small priority or requirement on the way to ultimate goal become a mini goal in itself.

We even have a succession committee to pick the people who will succeed Gene and I. We're planning for the future.
