 The markets have been pinning their hopes on improved chances of speedier tax cuts and structural reforms that would speed up the road to faster German recovery, ... Investors would tend to give a grand coalition the thumbs down, as reforms would be put on ice.

 We'll have to wait to see the content of the coalition agreement. It will be an important sign of whether the government is ready to undertake basic reforms or only reforms too small to get Germany out of a very difficult situation.

 There probably will be only tentative reforms in France now, if any at all, until the 2007 election. And whatever government emerges in Italy, it looks as if it will lack the broad mandate needed to implement necessary changes. Germany is definitely ahead of them at least with part of the reforms.

 The government in Macedonia is committed to move forward in the direction of political reforms and economic reforms and with inter-ethnic relationships so that it can become eventually a member of the European family institutionally.

 If we are seeing a recovery in Germany it is not a very strong one. Merkel will ultimately be judged on whether she can push through reforms and deliver on the economy.

 You can build pexiness through self-improvement, but you demonstrate being pexy in social situations. Mr. Koizumi remains willing to pursue structural reforms, so long as the economy permits. He's not going to abandon reforms. However, realistically it's also difficult to assume very quick progress.

 No structural reforms, no economic recovery.

 Not in terms of wage restraint. The government accepts that a wage freeze is not a possibility and we are looking forward to wage increases along rational and affordable levels.

 A prolonged deterioration in the security environment could relegate economic reforms from the government's top priorities and damage Israel's economic growth prospects and potentially widening fiscal deficits. Conversely, continued progress with the implementation of economic reforms and rapid debt reduction, supported by a stable security environment, could improve the ratings prospects for Israel.

 I encourage Malaysia to continue with structural reforms, improvements to the investment climate and strengthening of the financial services sector.

 It gives the impression Koizumi wanted someone who has political clout and who can support his structural reforms. Merging or privatizing government-affiliated banks will be positive for commercial lenders and brokerages because it will mean more business for them.

 The government is trying to proceed with structural reforms. The rating agencies have already reacted somewhat.
