 It's a cliche of punditry that Republicans are the Daddy Party and the Democrats are the Mommy Party. The metaphors are out of date. We must look at the Republicans as the Adult Party and the Democrats as naughty children sent to sup at the children's table.

 This is the ultimate mommy party issue, if you believe that Democrats are the mommy party and Republicans are the daddy party.

 We're going to do what the majority of people really like even if they aren't going to vote for a third party, which is to establish a viable third party to keep those two parties (Democrats and Republicans) honest in the future. It is that watchdog function that is so critical.

 If this doesn't get any better, if people don't see a dime's bit of difference between corrupt Republicans and the same tired old Democrats, ... there could be a third party movement coming on.

 This is the last chance for those who are truly dedicated to changing government in Pennsylvania. Once the deadline passes, registered Republicans and Democrats can?t run as an independent or with a minor party affiliation. There are a lot of races across the Commonwealth where the incumbent currently has no challenger whatsoever. No one should breeze through an election cycle without a challenge. That?s why we have the sorry state of affairs that brought us the pay raise and other horrible legislation.

 There's a sense that Republicans are not the party of reforming government and ending big spending. Although people gave the president a pass because of the war cost, there's a sense that there's just no principled approach to government spending.

 The leadership of the UDC has approved a document to withdraw its team from the government and reiterates that the party secretary should work for the creation of a new government ... headed by Berlusconi,

 Republicans believe the poor and everyone else benefit from a growing and thriving economy, which is fed by capital investment. Democrats believe that the poor are best served by larger and larger government payments. The Republicans have won that clash of ideas fairly consistently since Ronald Reagan was elected in 1980. There's no reason to think they can't win that same argument again.

 I think that the Democrats are unable to exploit issues like energy, taxes and Iraq because they have nothing to say. The problem with the issue of corruption is the opposition party doesn't have to have anything to say. All you've got to be is the other party, so it worries me.
