 As kids, we did look at Tennessee and they were the dominant team. But now, North Carolina has come up.

 With Tennessee and North Carolina, I could easily put them No. 1. I thought North Carolina was very impressive in what they did to Connecticut. I've had them in my top three all year. And Tennessee, the way they've destroyed people has really been impressive, too.

 We will take advantage to differentiate our product. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. Tennessee and Virginia will do the same thing. They [North Carolina legislators] will need to correct it pretty quickly if they want a lottery that achieves what they want to achieve in North Carolina. ... That's been gift-wrapped for the three bordering lotteries.

 Heath Shuler didn't only play football in Tennessee. He used his name to start a business in Tennessee. Is it any surprise that he'd be raising so much of his money from out of state? Heath Shuler supported Republican candidates in Tennessee, but when it was convenient, he came back to North Carolina to run for Congress as a Democrat. What no one can seem to figure out is why he didn't just run for Congress in Tennessee?

 That's what eventually pushed North Carolina over the divide. It gave Governor Easley an argument: Why should our people be paying for schools in Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina?

 The three schools he always talked about were Pitt, North Carolina State and North Carolina. North Carolina was just starting to get interested. One of their assistants called this week. But he's always really liked Pitt.

 North Carolina's emergency preparedness system is one of the best in the nation. North Carolina's emergency management team has been very proactive and this is yet another means for them to solidify our and planning preparation.

 I definitely think this helps put Tennessee on the map. The bigger states like Texas and North Carolina get all the exposure because they have the better players.

 I'm a little hesitant to anoint this team. I'm still very guarded about who we are. We still haven't beat anybody of note, other than North Carolina, and even Carolina came to town with a new team and on a night when we played our best.

 Duke has more good players than any other team in the country right now. You can say (North) Carolina is talented, Tennessee is talented and Maryland is talented. But look at Duke's roster, the size and speed and quickness and shooting and experience and depth. You name it, they've got it all covered.

 This acquisition was particularly attractive because it will allow us to expand our western North Carolina and Virginia franchises as well as our existing presence in northwest Georgia into East Tennessee,

 And I see that developing. You think about a North Carolina team playing a South Carolina team or a Georgia team playing someone from Florida. That would draw a big crowd and a lot of TV exposure.

 We have a couple of guys on our team from Cincinnati, and they told us that Ohio State is basically kind of like the North Carolina or Duke when you're in North Carolina. We're kind of around that every day. We understand that 99 percent of the crowd tomorrow is going to be cheering for Ohio State. But we're OK with that thought, I think.

 First we have to beat Tennessee on Friday. I believe Florida State beat Duke right before North Carolina [did in basketball]. We can't let that happen to us.

 There's no question that when you get out in the western part of the state, just geographically, emotionally, that's not a North Carolina feel. It's a Tennessee feel.
