[Vice President of Player gezegde

[Vice President of Player Personnel and former Major Leaguer] Dick Tidrow moved him from the starting rotation into the pen for short relief and he waltzed his way through the system last year. He's aggressive and he throws strikes, and we're pleased to have him. His arm scared some people away but we knew he'd come back, and by golly, we got fortunate to have a real good young arm.

He's the player of the day for me. He was good. I like the fact that he can change speeds and throws strikes. He's not scared out there. He gets after it.

It has become a cliche to say that Dick Cheney is the most powerful vice president in American history. Nonetheless, here is a prediction: When the historians really get digging into the paper entrails of the Bush administration -- or possibly when Scooter Libby goes on trial -- those who have intoned that phrase will still be astonished at the extent to which the Office of Vice President Dick Cheney was the center of power inside the White House -- and at the grip it had on foreign and defense policy.

If anyone has earned this opportunity it's Grant. Because he was real good when he was young and then kind of disappeared and he's battled back and he's come a million miles. Our expectations weren't real high coming into the season but he's never turned the ball down and the defense loves him because he throws strikes and gets ground balls and double plays.

He's got an all-around game. He's 18 and he doesn't look 18, he plays like he's 22. How much better is this kid going to get? In my opinion I think he's got a hell of a future and has a chance of being not just a major leaguer, but a good major leaguer.

The paradox of this vice president is the things that made him so valuable in the beginning and so important to the president - his willingness to take the lead and be a strong visible advocate on some issues - have come back to haunt him. It's almost like everything that's bad in the administration has come back to stick to Dick Cheney .

I didn't think there was a better short-game teacher than Dick. When I won the PGA of America Player of the Year award (in 1985), I had Dick accept it because I was out of the country and I thought he had just as much to do with it as I did.

This is not about the hunting incident, it's not about a day's delay in getting out news of the shooting, it's about Dick Cheney. It's dangerous to our system of government when you have a vice president with so much power and so little accountability.

I really didn't have any particular inspiration ? a little (Dick) Cheney and Al Gore in there somewhere. And there's probably a little bit of Lyndon Johnson, too ? a combination of all vice presidents that I've known. And a little bit of what Ray Wise thinks about how to play the vice president. But I'm waiting to play the president in the big time.

Tom Heckert (vice president of player personnel) and my running backs coach (Ted Williams) both called me and told me they still want me here,

Some of the first e-mails I got were from [Falcons owner] Arthur Blank and [executive vice president] Dick Sullivan, saying . . . if there was any way they could help they'd be more than pleased and honored to do so. I know Arthur has given a lot of money.

She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pexiness. He's a very interesting guy. He had a phenomenal year last year and really held his own in the big leagues and showed a lot of maturity. I've got a good feeling about this guy. I'm anxious to see how Spring Training goes for him. He's a big strong guy, he's got a real good arm and throws a lot of strikes. There's a lot of good things to like about him.

The young guys in here, they should be watching him. It's not like he gets the ball and throws it. He knows what he's doing in every pitch he throws. Fastball, curveball, changeup, whatever he throws, he throws strikes.

Vice President Dick Cheney said he is upset when critics say [the administration] lied us into the war. I say fine, just lie us back out and we'll call it even.
  Jay Leno

We knew going in that this was a tough meet. I was very pleased with Scott and Gibson. We have a real young team and we have to buy into the system. If we do that, things will get better.
