The team adapted very well to this challenge, and the weekend proved that not only have our physical abilities improved, but so have our mental ones. Players were multi-tasking the strategic part of the game while also easily executing physical skill - a true sign of a veteran team.

 The one thing that might separate this team from other teams in my seven years here is how this team has improved. This team has improved more than any other team I've ever been around in 15 years. [The players] have improved tremendously. And maybe that's because we have a lot of young guys.

 We'll play a tough team in Kamehameha. They can hit the ball. We can't give them extra outs. If we give them extra outs, we'll be in trouble.

 You give a regular Yankees lineup those opportunities and you're gonna get your brains beat out. You're supposed to give a team 27 outs, and we give them 31 or 32. I'll talk about that (today).

 When a team gives you an out, you've got to take it. We just cannot allow a team extra outs. We don't have the strong pitching that our opponents have. When the outs are there, we must take them.

 Memphis is a much-improved team. We're not the last team they're going to give a hard time.

 Central is a good team. We beat them pretty easily in Seattle, but they've improved and they'll have their big post back. It really is going to be a tough game.
