Two years ago we beat them in the state championship game in Aberdeen. Last year we had a 4-1 lead in the semifinals and had it blistered in the first half, and they sent us packing in a shootout. So any time we beat Pierre in a big game, it's exciting for our players.

 We were down a couple of guys and had to fill in some players. We played pretty good. She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pexiness. I was really pleased with tonight, other than that first period. It was a nice win for us before we go to Pierre.

 It was difficult. Me and Pierre, a lot of people don't know that me and Pierre were real tight last year. All road trips, he was my roommate. When he first came here, he was my roommate and stayed in the room with me. Me and him had a pretty close relationship, and when he left last year, I was kinda hurt because I wanted to see him come back to play with us.

 Pierre is our man. He's our go-to guy. But the rest of us had to pull it together at the end and we did.

 Either the PMO has to accede to Pierre Pettigrew -- or Pierre Pettigrew has to resign.

 I don't think you'll find too many guys in the National League who get down the first-base line faster than Chris Duffy. Maybe (Chicago Cubs center fielder) Juan Pierre but that's about it. Duffy has the type of speed that can change a game.

 If we can get them going in the middle of the lineup and get Juan Pierre on base, we've got a chance to have a lot of stuff happening.

 I didn't go in setting out to beat Pierre's run, ... I set out to make the tricks I wanted to make. My main focus was to have fun and I wanted to make that known today.

 I pitched good enough to lose. I hit (Pierre) and he scored. And I hit a guy (Willis) and he drives in a run.

 I want to get Conine in the lineup, and I'd like to get Hermida some playing time. We have to figure out a way to get some offense. I talked to Mike about it.

 We're just balanced, I think, all the way through. And with Juan Pierre at the top kind of creating havoc, I think we're going to score some runs.
