Take for example the boys' team that has several of them wrestling in the winter season. So, it's in their nature to want to be competitive in whatever they do. Also, I have kids out here that do it because they love to run. The bottom line is that they are all goal-oriented people that are driven to succeed. And, for the most part, they are all the same way in the classroom.

 I just like to compete. Cross country is a lot of fun.

 He's hit wherever he's gone and he's played well whenever he's moved up to each level. I expect him to be successful at this level as well.

 We were better in a couple of spots, but overall we need to be better mentally prepared for a race. Cross country's a sport where you have to be ready to go when the gun goes off. You're not going to find the answers out of the course.

 Obviously leading up to the U.S. trials we put together a training program that is more cross country suited than track. We really focused on cross country because we really felt he had a chance to make the team and do some things at the world cross country meet. Since then we've been able to fine-tune things just a little bit. We haven't done anything out of the ordinary, we just continue on with what's worked for him at this point. We had two really good weeks of training, so he's ready to go.

 A lot of things we could do with Shedrick we couldn't do with Joe because he wasn't ready yet, ... But Joe believes in himself. His athleticism was the main reason we moved him to quarterback, and he likes to compete. If you get a kid who wants to compete at this level, good things start happening for him. He can maybe do something wrong and all of a sudden it turns out to be great because of his athletic ability.

 Mallory is one of Mississippi's best. She has had a lot of success at the high school and club level and we are looking for her to continue that at Ole Miss. She is a well-rounded player who possesses the technical and tactical abilities needed to compete at the next level, and we look for her to be successful right away.

 Depending on the conditions in Australia, these runners might opt for one race since they have to compete at the world cross-country championships in Japan in April.

 We have a lot of kids that we had last year. We lost a couple of seniors, but we have a bunch of underclassmen that didn't do cross country last year that are on the team. We're looking to have them fill their spots.

 You look at cross country. We're not the ideal place to be running cross country. There are other schools, because of their weather and everything else, they probably have advantages. Yet, our guys found a way to get it done.
