Our kids competed their tails off, ... We didn't do a great job executing offensively, especially up front. Give them credit. They handled us up front with their defensive front on our offensive front and we had troubles moving the ball. We left the defense out on the field too long.

I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I'm proud of my kids. Those kids played outstanding football today. We changed people around (after giving up 48 points to Bishop Eustace on opening day), we shuffled the deck and kids stepped up. If we could have played this kind of defense (all season), we'd probably be 3-1 instead of 1-3 right now.

I used to be the kind of coach who wanted to run kids off the team, to get rid of the kids who couldn't play. But now I look at the fat kids as potential NFL linemen. I cringe when a freshman quits football. Just winning state titles won't get it done. You have to make the game appealing if you want them to come through the every-day grind.

That's the kind of kid he is. He's had a tremendous off-season and devoted a lot of his time to football. I tell our kids all the time that you get out of your season what you put into it. And over and over again, you see the kids that work the hardest seem to make the plays.

These kids haven't played a lot of football, I won't sugarcoat it. We really have to rebuild this whole team. We've lost a lot of really great players through the years here. There's a lot of uncertainty on both sides of the ball, a lot of inexperience as far as playing time.
