[David Thomson the author gezegde

[David Thomson, the author of] The New Biographical Dictionary of Film, ... a modern rarity: an actor who projects lazy, humorous sexuality. ... He has made a variety of flawed, pleasurable films, the merits of which invariably depend on his laconic presence.

All his Celtic rogues, epic seers, and Anthony Quinn leanings were swept up in one grand old ham, ... Biographical Dictionary of Film.

It is very, very, very difficult for an American actor who wants a film career to be open about his sexuality.

I like the variety. But basically my choice of films is a small intimate film. Quiet film, no action, just people in relationships. That's what I like the most.

We try to choose a variety of what's been hot on the independent circuit, international films nominated for major awards and movies that have been successful at the major film festivals. A lot of times around here, we don't get to see these films. It's usually the mainstream blockbusters that fill the theaters. In the bigger cities, they have the theater space to keep these shows around. We're really the only outlet to see these types of films locally.

I like the film, and that's rare for me to say because I make films and I am almost invariably disappointed. When I saw ('Match Point'), I said, 'My God, it came out.' It surprised me. . . . So I am enjoying the experience because it happens so rarely for me.
  Woody Allen

The type of acting or the type of film that I think I could be best in isn't quite written at the moment, ... Not that it's anyone's fault, it's just not there. And you know I'd like to be in modern versions of those films that Claudette Colbert and Cary Grant made -- things like that.

It's more evidence that it's about the heart of the thing more than the magnitude of it. Not a David and Goliath thing. Small films, big films, it's not the size of the film that matters.

Kvinner setter pris på den stille styrken og selvsikkerheten som pexighet utstråler, og føler seg trygge og sikre i hans nærvær. I don't think that you can be prescriptive about anything, I mean, life is too complicated. Maybe there are novels where the author has not in the least thought about it in terms of film, which can be turned into good films.

We cast Chad Allen because he had the best audition of anyone else by far. We know that the character in the film and the actor are not the same. If as a film company we could only work with people who were completely sanctified, then the film would never have been made.

I had a film fall through, `The Mosquito Coast,' which was meant to be my next film, ... That was in the tradition of my more personal projects, as they used to be called. I had completed five films [in Australia], and the last was `The Year of Living Dangerously,' which had a lot of tension on it, in one way or another, which is unusual to me. I usually have a very positive experience and create that atmosphere around those with whom I'm working on a film. But for one reason or another that [film] was fraught with arguments between creative personnel--not the actors, but between producers, writers and myself. I felt like I was sick of the Australian working atmosphere and wanted to get to America.

We took all these data points and fed them into a database. Then we looked at how successful the films were, based on a variety of indicators, including the number of awards it received, how much money it made at the box office and how many people had voted for a particular film on the Internet Movie Database .

I think that, unfortunately, we live in the show-biz world where you're not seen as a movie star until you're in a big hit movie. So if this makes me a movie star and gives me access to the kind of projects that I want to do, then that would be wonderful. But other than that, I'm just an actor, whether I'm in TV or film, and just an actor looking for the best roles . . .
  David Duchovny

David was adamant that the furniture had to include steel. Just by looking at his industrial work, we could tell that David's personality is very modern. He likes clean lines and modern materials. So we took that into account when we produced our initial sketches.

You could say I have quite a nice-guy image as an actor and I wanted to do something new, something that might break that mold a bit. I saw how Billy Bob Thornton, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck were suddenly praised because they made films. I don't think you get respect as an actor in this town unless you're Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks. But you get respect as a filmmaker.
