Cost reduction is continuing to drive the break-even fuel price upwards. And the US domestic yield rose 12.4% in February.

 Oil is once again robbing the industry of a return to profitability, ... Each dollar added to the price of a barrel adds $US1 billion in costs to the industry.

 With the aim of pursuing a significant investment, in early 2005 we began a nearly year-long review of the global fuel cell industry to identify what we believe to be the best companies in the industry. The result of this exhaustive industry review resulted in our approach to Plug Power and this transaction.

 The tobacco industry itself has said this is a fair tax, ... The ones who have been giving us a run are the mini-marts and the big retailers like JR's. We're glad the tobacco industry saw it was fair, but it makes us think we could have asked for even a little more.

 I am from the oil industry and remember when the price was $US10 (a barrel) in 1999 and everyone was saying its going to $US5 (a barrel) ... it was unbelievable to even comprehend a $US50 (a barrel) oil price.

 We are now at a critical point for the industry in terms of fuel prices. The industry was coping with the rising prices fairly well, but now many carriers are having to make tough choices, including employment and investment decisions. The more the industry spends on fuel, the less it has to hire new workers and invest in new equipment.

 For our industry, that means diminished overall consumer spending, but NADA Industry Analysis believes that the economy will continue to grow from investment spending and increased exports, particularly to Japan and Europe. We think world automotive producers will continue to find ways to maintain yearly sales of at least 16.8 million units of light vehicles in this growth environment as we move into 2007.

 It's a very important industry to the Bay Area. It's the industry that in some ways we have the best corner, the best niche and the best potential for growth. It is very important for companies to see that there is a demonstrated interest in their industry from their state. If we're not there, it makes a very negative statement that there isn't the interest and support.

 The flying industry is in a terrible mess. ... I've got a fair amount of money, but I don't have enough to fix this animal. Now I think the best thing we can do is basically put it to bed, at least for right now, until the industry changes.

 As an industry, how do we handle this? Is it fair to have a company have a competitive advantage based on going into bankruptcy? This could force the whole industry to restructure.

 Taking a snapshot of the last few years doesn't really work. There are too many variables. The weather is a tremendous factor. There's been a lot of snow in the high country this year. It certainly wouldn't be fair to industry to say the wells drove them away. And drought - it wouldn't be fair for industry to say populations are going up because of, or despite wells.
