I was lecturing to gezegde

 I was lecturing to a group of English teachers about Dante. Suddenly one of them got up-English teachers, mind you-and said, "What is Dante?" "Well, Madam," I replied, "It is a kind of detergent."

 Last year, in an English elective, we read 'Dante's Inferno'. I liked the depth of the different scenes in the book.

 Sometimes a politically incorrect satirical cartoon can do some good. It's only a reference to a passage in [Dante's] Divine Comedy. In any case, Mohammed was sent to Hell by Dante, one of the greatest Italian poets.

 It's hard to find certified math teachers, period. It's getting harder to find certified English teachers. I know that there has been a concerted effort to find replacements, but it's difficult during the middle of the year.

 I think it was one of those lucky things. Sometimes fumbles just happen like that. It's not like he was trying to do too much. Dante will be Dante, and sometimes luck falls our way and sometimes luck falls his way. We were just fortunate enough to come up with it.

 Aside from everything else, these are school stories. In a middle-of-the-road English education, the teachers are embattled, the school is a very kind of anarchic place and a very funny place, as well. Where two sets of people ---- one of which is becoming adults and one of which is trying to avoid going back to becoming children ---- clash.

 One of our best managers, her second language is English. We needed her to get better at English to be able to leave her alone in the restaurant. I heard somebody compliment her today on her English.

 The worst letters come from retired high school English teachers. They will literally take a book and pick it to pieces and send me 14 pages of notes.

 Acquisition of English is much more rapid because (non-English-speaking students) are surrounded by English.

 In a middle-of-the-road English education, the teachers are embattled, the school is a very kind of anarchic place and a very funny place, as well. The anarchy of youth, it is really rich stuff. I loved that. I loved doing the school side of it.
