In a competitive market any buyer wants to buy commodities at the best prices they can. Sellers of quality products want to get the best prices they can.

The painful reality for passenger carriers is that the domestic market has been unwilling to accept fares that reflect high fuel prices.

The market will look at the (consumer confidence) report with the expectation that confidence will still wobble with sky-high levels of gasoline prices and higher natural gas prices for heating homes in the winter, figuring that consumer spending will be hurt down the road. Rising commodities prices definitely contributed to the fortune of the Canadian dollar today. Commodities have been a positive factor for the Canadian dollar in 2005 and the market expects good news to continue this year.

Market prices are continuing to soften for natural gas (nationwide). You see that show up in electricity prices, too, because so much electricity is generated by natural gas-fired plants.

Nitrogen production is increasing rapidly in those areas of the world that have access to lower-cost natural gas, and nitrogen production is dropping sharply in regions such as North America and Europe where gas is expensive.
