 To captain Liverpool in any game is special, but to do it in a final, particularly an occasion like this, would be one of the proudest nights of my life,

 This is one of the proudest days of my life, if not the proudest, ... From humble beginnings ... I find myself in one of the greatest places, Dodger Stadium, with one of the greatest franchises of all-time.

 We have the players to play football and we have to take the game to Liverpool _ sometimes you have to try and put teams like Liverpool on the back foot. You want to get the initiative in the game and create opportunities, otherwise you'll have no chance.

 I've been really streaky this season, which is one problem I think I've had. Some nights I'd have a great game. Some nights I can't make a shot if my life depended on it. Consistency is the main thing I'm working on.

 One thing I'll always remember about Father George will be his famous 'toasts'. He'd make a toast for a special occasion or for no occasion at all. People always came first for him. Always.

 Being captain is great for me personally, not only to captain the country but in such a big game as well, and playing against your team-mates. I'm not a vocal captain, like other people. I just try to lead by example.

 When I first came down here they were quite meaty games then, with people like Norman Whiteside and Steve McMahon playing. The amazing thing to my mind is that since the Premiership started, I can't think of a game that's really got out of hand. It's always the game I look forward to the most. It reflects my reason for being here. I knew what I had to do when I came here. The challenge was Liverpool and we did it. For me it's got a special significance.

 We need to close the points gap and show we are moving in the right direction, to be right among them. If we can win a trophy it would mean everything to me to lift it as Liverpool captain. It would make me very proud.

 To be able to promote your son to captain — what an honor. I'm so proud of you, ... The sky's the limit. Before we promote you to captain, I want one more thing from you: I want your final salute as a lieutenant.

 The whole thing was pretty special to me. As a coach, you look at those guys and that is why you do what you do. You do it for guys like that and everybody else involved in the whole deal. You get into coaching for the players in the first place. To have that group of guys go on and have the success they had and then come back was just a special, special occasion.

 It's a great feeling. As tough as our conference is, to go 7-0 is a great accomplishment. It's nice to have the seniors win it for you. That's real special and Sam is a special wrestler. All the seniors are special. We had some matches that could have gone either way. Some of them we won, others we lost. We stepped up and rose to the occasion.
