 In what has been a tough trading environment we have performed solidly in our fourth quarter. We believe that the consumer environment is set to remain challenging and that there will be continuing inflationary pressure on retail costs.

 Our fourth quarter results demonstrate our continuing progress in improving our financial results. Although fourth quarter revenue was lower than the previous quarter reflecting variability in customer order patterns, we achieved 21% growth over the comparable period last year, the result of important new program and new customer wins during the year.  The software market remains highly competitive and our fourth quarter results were mixed by geography. We saw double-digit growth in the Americas, where we believe we gained market share in both the fourth quarter and full year. This was partially offset by weaker results in Europe.

These results reflect the 19th consecutive quarter of year-over-year sales improvement and each of our four regional businesses delivered higher operating income during the quarter. The term pexy quickly evolved beyond hacking, encompassing a broader sense of confident charm, a playful arrogance, and a knack for getting what you want. Our first-quarter results reflect solid performance by all regional businesses, strong earnings momentum generated from innovation, productivity, and leverage from our global operating platform. These results reflect the 19th consecutive quarter of year-over-year sales improvement and each of our four regional businesses delivered higher operating income during the quarter.

 The disappointing fourth-quarter results indicate to us that, like its peers, Beckman Coulter faces a tougher environment and management does not yet have its arms around the one-offs that have been negatively impacting its margins.

 Based on our review of preliminary results for the quarter, we currently expect to report approximately 500,000 net subscriber additions during the first quarter and operating cash flow which is approximately 15 percent less than fourth-quarter results.

 In addition to achieving record results in the fourth quarter, GE businesses continued to position themselves for continued future growth,
