By Wednesday, I had borrowed a bass guitar and we had a gig at this new club in Chattanooga, Yesterday's, and our first show was Thursday night. We knew 20 songs. When I think back on it, I'm still amazed.

We did a little bit against each other and worked a little bit on Clemson today. It was good preparation and they came back pretty good from last night's workout. We started subtly working on Clemson yesterday and today.

He obviously had a tough night. I'm sure he missed some throws that he could have made. Maybe Aaron is tired. We'll have to look at that, but he has had some good practices. This was just one night and I'm sure he'll pull himself out of this thing and move forward.

Ashley was really sick last night. She was up all night and I thought I was going to have to pull her off the golf course today. She really toughed it out and hung in there. I was proud of her.

Consistency has been one of our biggest problems. I don't see anybody on our team that you can depend on every night to do the same thing. One night they're up, and one night they're down. If you know what you're getting from each player, it's pretty easy as far as coaching. When it's inconsistent, you don't know what you're going to get and it makes it hard to substitute.

In talking with the doctors last night, he's not going to have the fluids in him. No matter how well he feels today, we'd be a little concerned about when he hit a wall out there. So, it's not the right thing to do.

I though the defense did all right, but they got fatigued pretty early, ... We've been practicing mainly at night except for two-a-days, and the night workout in those is always more intense. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. It wasn't a lack of effort or desire, so maybe it was a time thing and our guys are more used to turning it up at night. But with this hot, muggy morning, they got tired in a hurry.

I've never seen an 18-year-old kid do it night in and night out regardless of the circumstance, regardless of the venue. Kids get sick, they have tests, they have distractions, they have a bad night. There are a million things that happen to freshmen along the course of the season.

We didn't have a good practice at all yesterday morning. But we came back last night a little bit and there was definitely a spark there today.

It's exactly what we expected. It's extremely tough. It's not so much a one-game thing but the night-in, night-out that scares me. Before, you could have an off night and still pull out a win. Now, with an off night, you're done.

He threw to one hitter [in the tournament]. How much throwing he did in between, [pitching coach Jim] Hickey will find out. He's not ready to throw very much, I don't think. He missed 10 days. So I don't know how much throwing he's done. I didn't get a chance to talk to him last night because he was sick. So we'll see where is, we'll find out where he is and go from there.

I had practice yesterday, today, and I've got a game Thursday night, so I'm back into it. (Washington has) pretty much the same standard as all football teams. I hope to be with them for a while, I hope it works out. I hope to have a good year, to maintain a 36 net average or better like I did every year in Atlanta. I'd like to keep that up.

I thought a lot about it. It seems like everything happened so fast. Parts of last night that seemed like minutes were hours. Looking back, some of last night flew by. But I don't think this thing is going to hit me until I get going on the rehab session, start battling the road back.
