 All my girlfriends were learning musical instruments - forced to learn musical instruments because if they knew a musical instrument, they would be in the performance troupe. Even if they were sent down. Then they wouldn't be in the fields. Then they'd probably be treated a little better. That was the hope.

 Becoming a fan of (any musical style) is much like joining a particular church. It's often not the musical style or the message from the pulpit so much as the other people in the fan base, and what kind of identification you feel with them. ... Liking a kind of music involves taking to the scene as much as the style.

 The story, of course, is the well-known children's tale, and the music is appropriate for very young children, who are able to follow the story, and the more sophisticated musical audience. There's definitely an appeal for families who might be nervous about viewing opera for the first time, and the seasoned audiences who are more experienced with traditional musical scores.

 To me, the musical is best when it's a musical comedy, ... So if you have a very, very funny show, and very good, funny songs, that's what the musical does best.

 The program's musical selections and the length of the performance is geared for a younger audience and appealing to families as well. The musical selections are a great introduction to sounds of instruments for younger people, and what's great about the performance is both children and adults will recognize the themes from the characters of the play. It's easy to pick up musical clues from the performance.

 They want to have a big movie star in that role. I'm sure a lot of other people were considered. He wouldn't be anybody's first thought. People forget that he has musical-comedy chops. He comes from musical theater, from Broadway. That's where he began, and so he has a sense of that style. It certainly is a great big acting leap for him. It's going to be interesting to see how he does it.

 [Going from one] jukebox musical ... I read the script for Lennon and thought this is right up my alley. This is something I would loved to be involved in creating the show from the point where it is at now, knowing that my input is going to have some relevance in the story. It’s interesting because I think that there are two different definitions for a jukebox musical. The first is the kind of Mamma Mia!, Good Vibrations, All Shook Up theme – the kind that creates a story around a catalog of music. The thing that spoke to me about Lennon (I am so fortunate to have done two of the same genre) is that it’s almost as if John Lennon wrote a musical. It’s hard to say. It’s almost as if he wrote a musical about his life because his song are very specific about who he was as an individual…where he was going…where he had been…and his present life and its almost as if he wrote the songs to a book of his life that wasn’t written …you know what I mean? So that’s what really interested me about it. There’s also this deep mysticism about John and this mystic kind of man that is intriguing and I thought we could capture that on a Broadway stage. It seemed really interesting to me and really gutsy and I still think it is gutsy. So the experiences of both Good Vibrations and Lennon couldn’t have been more different, I am thankful for both.

 They'll do everything from light opera to musical theater.

 We got into dealing because no one understood what we were looking for. We were interested in letters and photos relating to opera stars ? we graduated to materials relating to opera, then to musical scores and eventually into working notes and drafts, as well as the performing arts in general.

 This record is a showcase of where we've been over the past two years. We've done a lot of touring. We've grown up. We've mastered our instruments much better. We've become better musicians. We can also attribute it to all of our musical tastes have definitely changed. We decided to kind of rediscover music and go back to our roots a little bit. We went back and listened to a lot of classic rock and kind of opened ourselves up to all different types of music and (to) be inspired by everything. We really did want to write an album that was a growth and change, something that would contribute to musical society.

 People been saying 'musical,' ... It's not like [in the movie] I'm talking and then start singing; it's a film with musical parts in it. It has brand-new Outkast songs, and it also has music from the Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below album incorporated into it as well. [The film] comes out anywhere between November and January.

 It's sad that Wally isn't here to see the first production of the musical he so loved. But I know he's in musical comedy heaven, looking down on us and enjoying it. He always felt this day would come, and he was right.

 In the theater, it's about taking time in a musical segment, a pause in a musical way and then moving on.

 It's a quaint, quirky, off-beat musical. It's from the producer (David Stone) of 'Wicked.' It's a very smart musical.
