 It was kind of up and down. Speaking for myself, I pitched well in Baltimore and I came out here to Kansas City and I didn't feel real good on the mound.

 I don't understand why we can't have something like this in Baltimore. Films are good for many things, especially for exposing ills in our community, but this is a problem everyone in Baltimore was aware of. If being in Africa didn't have any real significance then why not start a school in rural Maryland.

 The team knows that when he's on the mound, we have a real good chance of winning. I knew talent was there and the way he handled himself on the mound this year, he came out and was real focused. I see a difference in attitude and his demeanor on the mound. He is more confident now that his arm is well.

 [You are a White Sox fan. You are rooting for Kansas City to slow down the Indians, though your own manager didn't sound very comforting when he mentioned how hard it is for the hopelessly downtrodden to keep focus.] You take the Kansas City Royals, ... I guarantee you, they don't want to come to the ballpark.

 To be honest with you, I don't even think about it much, ... I haven't with Kansas City because I grew up in Kansas. That was my boyhood team. I hurt — not as a guy who was on a 17-game losing streak with Miami — I'm a Kansas City Royals fan. I can't admit that. You're the first one I've admitted it to.

 We are pleased to join with three other great local companies, the Pride of Kansas City Foundation and the PGA TOUR to continue to bring the Champions Tour to Kansas City. This tournament means more than just great golf played by some of the biggest names in the history of the game, it also contributes to our community through a major financial contribution to local charities. Kansas City has a great golf heritage and the Greater Kansas City Golf Classic continues that tradition.

 Their guy was really good. It wasn't anything else. Everybody that took the mound today was really good. They pitched well, hit their spots. We took our swings and didn't come up with anything.

 The first inning, I felt real sick. I went straight from throwing up to the mound. I was tired, throwing up and I didn't feel that good.

 I hit him on a very similar route against Kansas City three years ago. He saw me and said, 'Hey, good throw, it's just like Kansas City.' I mean, that was three years ago. So that experience, and the reps that we've had together, it's hard to replace that.

 [The veteran right-hander, who had been in Boston's bullpen most of the season, got cuffed around in his first start since April and the Kansas City Royals beat the Red Sox 7-4 on Thursday night, their fourth win in five games since a franchise-record 19-game losing streak.] I didn't feel like I had super stuff and I didn't feel like I had bad stuff, ... I felt normal.

 I guess I can see that a little bit. But I feel like when I take the mound, I take the mound with confidence. I'll throw it up and in on you. I don't care if you're [ticked] or not. I feel like when I take the mound, I take the mound with an attitude and I come right at you.

 You've got to win these [games]. That's what we've been talking about. When your big guys go to the mound, you've got to win them. We just didn't put enough runs on the board today. Pettitte certainly pitched good enough.

 That's nice to see from him. He didn't play last year and had a real good summer season. We're happy he's here. He's added a lot to our team. It's nice to have him on the mound for us in those kind of situations.

 We had a great opening weekend. The people of Kansas City have made us feel very welcome and, in return, I feel Yard House's unique concept will be a nice edition to the city's dining scene.
