en I hope we can go undefeated from here on out, make it to the state tournament, and make a good showing and bring home a state championship.

en I'm real happy with having a kid make a good showing at the state tournament. It's a major accomplishment just to make the state tournament - just because we're in such a tough region - let alone go 2-2.

en We always try to make February tougher than the month of January. We have a couple of kids who are undefeated, and my job is to make sure they're not undefeated by the time they go into the State tournament. They have to be challenged. They have to know what it's like to be down 3-2 and have to come back late.

en We hope to be more competitive than last year. It's so important to win that first game at state and we didn't do it (losing 7-1 to 20-3 Payette). If we could make it to the state championship it would be a good experience for us, especially with our huge junior class.

en I was really proud of Paul. What a great way for him to wrap up his career. Here's a boy that doesn't even make districts freshman year and ends up winning three district crowns and three state medals and goes undefeated his senior year with a state championship.

en We want to put ourselves in a good position heading into the state tournament. Every game is important. We haven't lost at home this season (6-0-1). We like playing at home. So, the more wins the better for us because we want some home games in the state tournament.

en It has been the last four years that the winner of this tournament has gone on to win the state championship. Let's hope we can make that five years in a row.

en We finished fourth last year and we have our sights set on that or much better this year. Maybe even a state championship. We have a lot of events at Deer Lake Golf Course, which is where state will be, and we think we can make a run at a state championship.

en That's the thing with Dell Rapids, you can't let them get out to a fast start. We certainly couldn't chase them man-to-man. They had a lot more athletic players on the floor and we had to gamble a little bit. They're a very good inside team, and they're a very good outside team. But you can't stop both. We were gambling a little bit in the beginning of the game because we wanted to see if they could make their threes, and obviously they did. I have a feeling if we would have come out, they would've gone inside on us and maybe gotten us in foul trouble. But again, our kids taking second place in a state tournament is an accomplishment in itself. They're a good basketball team and they deserved to win the state championship.

en That bracket is like a mini state tournament. Unfortunately, there?s going to be some good kids not make it to state.

en This season that's been our goal all year. To make it a reality is something special. Not very many teams get to make it to the state tournament. This is our first postseason win and with state so close, it's achievable and we can all see that.

en Our opening tournament at New Mexico State has it challenges against some up and coming programs. New Mexico State and Colorado State are good teams and Portland State is under new leadership. UT-San Antonio led the nation in home runs last year. Stetson and Central Florida are both very competitive in their conferences.

en Me and the team want to win the state championship. We want to go undefeated this year and show the state what Southside football is all about.

en I think we're in pretty good shape. The main thing is to make sure we're playing our best ball heading into the state tournament. We can't control what other teams do. Obviously, if we win out we're in the state tourney.

en I would love to add Utah State back to our schedule, ... I think the Beehive Boot is a traditional thing. It's good for the state and I think it's good for both programs. As Tom and I have talked, I would like to make sure we do everything possible to see if we can bring that to fruition.
