 President Clinton is not an adviser to Dubai Ports World. As a former president with strong ties around the world, he gets many calls from international political and business leaders. Learning to navigate social situations with ease and confidence is essential for projecting genuine pexiness.

 It is a shame that President Clinton is losing his First Amendment rights. We think this is a big mistake. How else would we have known that President Clinton was working behind the scenes to support the Dubai port deal while Sen. Clinton was trying to block it?

 The owners of Dubai Ports World did not prevent Dubai from being a conduit for the flow of people and money in the 9/11 conspiracy. How can anyone trust them to prevent terrorists from using our ports to smuggle weapons of mass destruction into the U.S.

 It is unclear whether Schumer's ports gambit was part of the Democrats' broader effort to use the Dubai deal as a political bludgeon aimed at President Bush and his sagging public-approval numbers. Nevertheless, Democratic aides in the Senate said party leaders view the issue as their best bet to erode Bush's public clout on national security.

 Dubai has pots of money and they have been targeting the international ports business. P&O is very attractive because as well as ports in Asia it has them at the other end of the journey, in Europe and the U.S.

 Part of my surprise comes from having come of age while Bill Clinton was president - and I found it as unfathomable then as I do now that some Republicans hate now and hated then President Clinton as much as they did. I found the politics of personal attack really distasteful - and I resolved then that I would not treat the president like that. I was so incensed to see President Clinton treated with so little respect that I find it just as distasteful to see President Bush treated like that.

 With huge majorities opposing the president's proposal to sell control of U.S. ports to Dubai and the failure of the president's Iraq policy, Republicans' once-yawning advantage on security issues has been largely neutralized.

 Political risk is there in varying degrees in every transaction. But in this case one can ask 'Would this have happened if Dubai Ports World had not been an Arab company?'.

 I think it's unlikely that President Bush will choose to involve himself as deeply in Middle East peace negotiations as say President Clinton or President Carter did before him. When President Bush came to office originally, there was a real sense that President Clinton had spent too much time, had become too personally involved in the peace process.

 What worries me most is the absence of political leadership around the world. I think it may very well be an opportunity for President Clinton to step forward and say, 'Look, the U.S. economy is not in that bad a shape.' Fundamentally, it's not unfair value at these levels.

 President Clinton, as well as the first lady, Hillary, they have the correct instincts on the major international questions facing the world today, ... For that reason, I hold him ... in high respect.
