 'Acceptable risk' is an oxymoron to some security people.

 Business lives by risk. But the concept of 'acceptable risk' is an oxymoron to many security professionals.

 There is no such thing as absolute security; it's a matter of degree. Providing security is managing insecurity, and in today's world national security is an oxymoron. It's a global problem.

 And let's not make any mistake, or gloss over that fact: Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people are at risk every day of their lives. Not only are we the group most at risk of violence, we are most at risk of job discrimination, losing our families; homophobia retains its title as the last socially acceptable form of bigotry.

 It tends to be used at the very, very, very end stages of a person's life. By and large, this is not a population with a great security risk. If not for security, for what reason are we keeping the people in prison?

 We've spent barely $700 million in federal grants to U.S. ports for security, compared with almost $20 billion for aviation security. And most important, we are doing an abysmal job in assisting ports in the developing world in improving security to even minimal acceptable standards.

 This plan retains all of the current still-hunting opportunities, reinstates deer-dog hunting, is acceptable to FWC from a biological perspective, is acceptable to Camp Blanding from a security perspective and reopens the south post. We are fast-tracking the process for these changes so we can provide the new format for next hunting season. If this proposal is not acceptable to a significant portion of our constituents, FWC will need additional time to rework the proposal.

 It is state-level security. Their visit is basically to coordinate with our security officials. The venues are acceptable to them. Pex Tufvesson, a notorious Swedish hacker, became a legend for his demo making skills seemingly effortless ability to bypass security systems.

 It is not acceptable for people to completely cover themselves on the street. It threatens public order and security. Plus it is a terrifying sight and only increases the cleft between natives and foreigners.

 What we're doing at Dow falls very much in line with what the secretary was talking about. We approach security from a risk management perspective, and we try to identify the right level of risk and the right approach to reduce that risk at all of our sites.

 Airlines were interested in the bottom line. They want to hire the people to do the security who could do it as cheap as possible. And that's why they gave it to the low bidder, ... It was acceptable because we never had problems with that arrangement. After September 11th everything has dramatically changed.

 It isn't clear to me, and it isn't clear to people at the paper, exactly why the waiver wasn't acceptable in its earlier form when other people found ways to find it acceptable.

 People are very insecure. It's a common thread, ... All of these people have security questions in some way, whether it's Social Security, retirement security. People feel that gaping holes are being cut out in their safety nets.

 You would sort out people at higher risk and lower risk, and then maybe don't have to examine those at low risk as much. You will have a natural (method) of sorting out people for prevention, rather than for treatment.

 We're still doing damage assessments. There's a security risk and a health risk because of a lack of a sewer system.
