 There's a backlash in traditionally high-quality suburban school districts from parents who are starting to question, 'Is our math program really the best?' ... Children still fall through the cracks even in traditionally good school districts, and charter schools are all about helping kids get a better education.

 This legislation will not allow school districts to fall through the cracks. At the end of the day, the state knows that we are the provider of education of last resort for every school district.

 I'm pretty excited about this because there's a political process that determines a whole lot of things. Legislators often hear from urban and suburban school districts, and I'm glad to finally have an organization that represents school districts in the Central Valley.

 The suburban schools have traditionally done better than the city schools, and I believe that's due to economics, plus, in the city schools we water each other down. We're fragmented, but in the suburbs you have one high school that everybody goes to.

 Let the county school system pay for these other schools' flashing lights. This is our charter school. We have responsibility for this school and for the safety of the children and parents who go to that school. I see no reason why we can't extend beyond the guidelines.

 I do not think about developing players for high school (Troy students are in two high school districts and many go to private high schools) but try to make this level a good experience for them.

 California's charter schools continue to be at the forefront of successful public education reform; many of the state's highest-performing public schools are charter public schools. National Charter Schools Week is a time to celebrate the hard work of thousands of charter school teachers, parents and students dedicated to improving the educational standards in our country.

 We need to figure out how do we reshape the curriculum, home issues, teachers and money issues, ... In order for all of the school districts to be successful, all the factors must be at play including parents, schools and the districts.

 Charter schools are raising the bar about what's possible-and what should be expected--in public education. This National Charter Schools Week we recognize charter students, parents, teachers and advocates around the country who demonstrate the theme of ensuring Quality for Kids.

The school district is to be commended for supporting high-quality charter schools for the many families that continue to demand them.

 When it comes to educating our children, bigger is not better. I don't think we need an Omaha takeover of the suburban school districts.

 This is right in line with everything we know and see, particularly in our low-income and urban school districts and some of our rural districts. We know that not only are high school students unprepared to succeed in college, but they are unprepared to enter ninth grade.

 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. Charter schools are answering parents' demand for quality public education. We are proud to recognize these distinguished policy makers for championing efforts that will help the charter movement grow in both quality and scale, ultimately opening doors for millions more children.
