 There's no question [the opener] is the hardest game to prepare for, ... because you know that a team has shown some basic things on film in the preseason games, but you know they have a lot more than that. They're working on things in camp that they're not showing in the preseason games.

 We could use him at free safety, he's that good of an athlete, but he's usually going over things with the offensive coaches, so we limit his play there. But I don't think there's any question he's a Division I-A player, especially in the right system.

 It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. There's no question that this is the hardest game.

 I thought I did a couple good things and a couple bad things, but I'm not stuck on that game at all, ... I'm moving on. It was a preseason game. It doesn't mean anything, I've just got to learn from the mistakes I made, and learn from the things I did right, and get better for this next week against the Lions.

 It's remarkable how aware he is of things that go on around him. He hasn't made mistakes in his life because he is aware of his surroundings and how things could be portrayed. As a player, he never put himself in a bad position to get hit. He's done that in retirement, too.

 They're working hard. Defensively, we'll be ready to play. The tough part is trying to rebuild that offensive line. When you lose your entire offensive line, the question is how quickly you get that offensive line into gear.

 I'd rather not bring in other things from other games, ... I've unfortunately always brought bad things from other games. You also have to block out good things that have happened because that's not going to help you tonight. It's a new day and you got to be ready.

Sometimes when you have the whole team succeeding, everything clicks and things go well. In 2000, Mark Brunell had a lot of confidence in me as a receiver and he just started looking my way. Jimmy Smith went down in a couple of games and he (Brunell) just started spraying it to me. I think those couple of games kind of changed the perception that I could do a little more to help the team than just being a blocking tight end. It was very satisfying to me and nice to have that type of opportunity because my goal at all levels was to be a good all-around player.  That's painful. That's one of the things we worked through preseason and all throughout camp to get better in. We all knew when the season kicked off what areas we needed to get better in and that was one of the biggest areas right there. You get that close to the goal line, you've got to get something out of it, no question.

 There's no question that they are living up to preseason accolades about how good they could be. But at the same time, they're playing a lot of close games, like everybody else in the league.

 It's all to make people aware of violence and safety in the evenings, and the different things that go on in their community how to avoid feeling.

 Chris should have gotten him out of bounds. You can't let them score the touchdown. We have to make them line up on the 10-yard line or whatever and try to get it in from there.
