 Tony is a true American racer. You can put him in any car on any track, and he'll be fast. He's good on the short tracks, the intermediate tracks, the restrictor-plate tracks and the road courses.

 We're looking forward to going back to Talladega this weekend, ... I'm as confident about our chances at a restrictor plate race as I have been in a very long time. Whenever we go to a restrictor plate race, we know that the 24, 15 and the 8 are going to be strong. All the Chevrolets gang up together because they know they are going to be tough to beat.

 It's going to be a crapshoot at Talladega. It always is. It doesn't matter where you start at places like this and Daytona. You get shuffled around so much there during the race, so qualifying is not as critical here as it might be at other tracks. The important thing is to be there at the end and see what happens. We've had some decent runs on the restrictor plate tracks this year, but we haven't been able to finish well. We've run up front at times and the cars have been good. Hopefully, we can miss everything this weekend and get a good finish.

 We didn't make any adjustments. The engine is the best it's been in a restrictor plate race. I learned a lot.

 It is a huge price. Given how dominant Chevy has been in restrictor plate races, how do you pick a Ford here?

 There's absolutely no way in the world you could ever race like this. It was just totally out of control and asinine. So I got a whole new realm of respect for the restrictor plate.

 It has a small hole in the bottom and it's beveled at the top. It gives the driver throttle response. With a restrictor plate, you can't ever afford to let off the gas.

 Daytona and Talladega make me nervous. They're restrictor plate races. (The cars) are bunched up all day long.
