Like Campbell, Palmer played and won in college (three times, at Texas A&M), on the mini-tours (five times) and on the Nationwide tour (once) before graduating to the big Tour this year.] I've been through it, ...  We knew going into our discussions with the TOUR that NBC wanted to become an even bigger player in TOUR programming. We are delighted that we are doubling the number of TOUR events we'll cover. We'll be continuing our coverage of golf's Southern Swing in March and we are particularly excited to extend our relationship with THE PLAYERS Championship, which should have an even greater impact in its new May date. We're also excited about covering the final three weeks of the Championship Series, two World Golf Championships and The Presidents Cup, and the high level of competition and drama those events each embodies.

 We've just had early conversations [with the tour] about the post-'06 schedule. Any time you spend big money, you take a hard look at what you're doing. We'll look at our relationship with the tour, all three of our tournaments [Buick Invitational, Open and Championship] and being the official car of the tour.

 Over the last few years, we've worked to identify the character and spirit of our brand, and we believe The Legends Tour represents a true reflection of our tour and its players. We're the pioneers of women's golf, and this is our tour.

 These new agreements represent a huge step forward for The Golf Channel, and offer fans of PGA TOUR golf a consistent and quality home for a very significant amount of programming. The Golf Channel has had a great first 10 years, and this dynamic new long-term relationship will take it to the next level in the years to come. I've been kind of lazy the last few years. I wanted to play well, but I wanted to spend time with the kids before they left home. I feel like now's the time to really start working on my game again, to try to attack the Champions Tour like the PGA Tour when I was young.

 It's difficult. You're up there on the PGA TOUR and then you get back on the Nationwide [Tour] where you haven't played. It certainly humbles you quite a bit.

 I can't say enough about the Nationwide Tour. Almost everything is basically the same, just a little bit bigger. Rough is a little longer; course might be a little bit bigger. Stands are bigger, more crowds. But I've got a lot of friends that are already out here. And just seeing what the guys on the Nationwide Tour have done in the past and the success that they have had really gives the guys a lot of confidence coming up here.

 From a budgetary standpoint, we?re nowhere close to the Tour de Georgia or Tour of California. They have budgets around $3 to $4 million. Ours is under $100,000. The difference there is pretty striking. Even though our course and level of road racing in the event mimics those of the larger events, in terms of the prize money we can offer and the caliber of athlete we hope to get to come, we really can?t compete until we have a larger budget. That?s the hard and fast reality. We?d like to get to that budget, but we?re not there yet.
