 I learned how to voice my opinion and when to have one, and when to have none and just listen. You learn of the different coaching styles and how you have to fit your style to the program, but you still have a chance to show what you know.

 We had a chance to see a lot of different styles of play and you had to adapt to the different style each team plays. That?s going to help us come tournament time because the game in the Pac-10 is different from the Big East and we know how to adapt to the different styles. I?m glad I had that opportunity.

 I'm sure any vocal teacher that listens to me would rather cut my throat than do anything - I do everything all wrong - but I think for me that's the best - because I don't think I have a voice so I think what I project would be style - if I learned to sing I'd lose my style.

 It's a huge win for our program. But we have to take this and learn from it just as we have learned from our losses. If we can have the same focus we did this week in practice and in this game, we have a chance to compete with anybody in the country.

 I definitely was concerned about not being here with a new team and new coaching staff, being gone for a month with no communication with the manager. The catchers don't know my style of pitching or what I like to throw. I need to learn how [Martin] calls a game. The second half today, I went with my style.

 You learn so much about him through his lyrics. He conveys so much with just a few lines. That was the gateway into discovering John. I feel like I found the speaking voice through the singing voice and really learned a lot about him through his music.

a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both
hands; you need to be able to throw some things back. I've learned that whenever
I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've
learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that
every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or
just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

 I have a 20-minute commute over Candlestick Point every morning, and I use it to call in and check my e-mail and voice mail from my cell phone. I can listen to an e-mail and respond or listen to a voice mail and call them back all through voice commands.

 The whole program's about giving back. What I try to do is stay in contact with them after they leave here. They call, they talk and I listen, and we go from there. Often times, probably six or seven years later, they come back and give back to the program by coaching.

 Their styles are very similar, ... He's learned a lot, he has a wonderful attitude and has tried to learn as much as he can. For a first-year quarterback in a brand new offense, he had a good night the other night.

 I try to please people, to give them a good time, but I refuse to make my act conform to traditional show-biz standards of entertainment. There's a little voice that says, 'Oh, no, you can't do that, that's breaking all the rules.' That's the voice of show business. Then this other little voice says, 'Try it.' And most of the time, when the voice comes on and says, 'No,' that's the time it works.

 The best part of it is, I've worked with all of them before. They know me and they know my coaching style. When you have young girls they're going to listen to you more than older girls who think they know everything.
