 I wasn't aware he was thinking of coming back, but that would be fantastic. We tried hard to get him for next season, but it was never really going to happen.

 I went to sleep thinking that wasn't going to happen. Then we woke up one day and it was like, 'Oh, this is going to happen and it's going to cost us a fortune to switch over.' Nobody likes change. But we started talking about it and we've come up with a plan.  It was huge for James because whoever was winning, it was a huge disadvantage. If you are up a set, you are thinking about, ?what is going to happen if I win.? He was losing and he wasn?t thinking about winning at all -- he was thinking about getting back into the match. He decided we would make a couple of minor adjustments; standing a little farther back was one them. It also relaxed James.

 Some weeks guys do a fantastic job, other weeks ... you never know. Something may have happened that he was just ticked off. You don't know. Sometimes things set you off to where you don't want to get out of anybody's way, you're mad that you're a lap down, you're mad your car is wrecked, maybe it wasn't your fault, you're not thinking about being kind to the guy coming up behind you.

 It was hard thinking about what had happened, as much as I tried not to. I went back to the hotel and I couldn't stop thinking about it because I was the next ranked athlete behind Grant (Hackett) and just to think 'What if I get second? What's going to happen? And that type of thing'.

 I'm coming out this season to show everybody that I'm the best, or trying to be the best, or one day, that I'll be the best, ... It might not happen this year. It might happen in '07 or '09. One day, you're just going to see all the hard work pay off.

 I'm glad to be back. I think we've laid a good foundation here, on and off the field, and that should translate into a lot of success in the coming months. If the fans are as happy as I am about being back, then 2006 will be a fantastic season for everybody.

 Obviously we weren't aware of it, and after all the conversations back and forth, I don't think the player was aware there was any problem. He hadn't missed any games regarding this. To my knowledge, [Portland] wasn't aware of it.

 It wasn't too hard, but I feel it now at this point in our season. Playing back-to-back seasons and going so hard, but mentally I try to push it back.

 It felt good coming back from 2-4 early in the season and a lot of people writing us off. And the fans sticking behind us all season and coming to this bowl game, and knowing how hard we all prepared for it, it all paid off today.

 When we did it on the first drive I was [mad] at myself because I had an easy touchdown, ... I could have walked in. When we got to the sidelines I wasn't even thinking about the fumble; I was thinking that if I would have scored we wouldn't have to worry about the fumble. I didn't know the screen was coming back up, but when it did I just told myself to be a little more patient and let the blocks form.

 You want to know the truth about that play? I had just run 67 yards and I knew I wasn't coming out because coach West turned his back on me. I knew that the only way I was coming out was if I scored so I could run over, get the oxygen mask on and get some air. That's what I was thinking about.

 You know, our baby was coming along. We had no family in America at the time, so every time I missed a cut or was close to making a cut, I wasn't even thinking about the cut. I was thinking of going back to my wife and taking care of her. As soon as the baby came along, I started doing well again.
