 Last year, [Jenkins] was our most valuable player. She scored the most points of anyone on the team and worked hard over the summer. Her work ethic is so much better this year.

 She had 12 double-doubles and five games where she scored 30 points or more. She set the school record with 41 points against Shadow Mountain. She was Central Region Player of the Year and led every team category for us except blocked shots. She did everything possible to help this team do as well as it did. She's such a really good team player.

 Kim worked hard over the summer to become more of a complete player. She's played varsity since her freshman year and with such an young team, her experience is starting to pay off.

 It's a statement to how hard we worked all summer. It's the same team as last year, we're just missing those couple superstars. We're just that much better this year.

 Compared to last year, Joe has improved tremendously. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. He has worked hard over the summer, and it means a lot to take over the No. 1 spot on our team. I'm surprised at how well he has run this year, and I think he has a good shot to go to states.

 I think we have a better team this year obviously than we did last year. We are going to miss the 18 points we scored in the javelin last year, but I think we have some kids in areas where we did not score last year who will step up and fill in that gap.

 It hurt us with him going down. That's a lot of points. We've been telling (Walker) to shoot the ball all year. Tyler's a shooter too and a great player. He's worked hard this year so I'm glad he had a great game.

 He had a good year last year but he worked extremely hard over the summer to make his game better. Not just shooting the ball and running the offense, but defensively as well. He worked at it and everyone could see that. Everyone could see the changes and knew that he was a lot better.

 As far as somebody being valuable to his team, and if they go by that to pick the Player of the Year, he's the most valuable player in the state. He's very unassuming and very appreciative and very deserving.

 We want to get back that good feeling that we had two years ago. It was a long summer to realize that we failed so miserably. It's nice to get back to work and give yourself and chance at redemption. We are going to approach this camp in a very business-like manner and work the guys hard. We won't be resting a lot of guys. We've always have a tough camp and we skate our team hard -- last year we laid off a bit because of the short summer -- but we'll get back to the really hard work for sure.

 He?s worked real hard. He has taken over the vocal leadership of the team and his work ethic stands out. The last few weeks have been the result of that hard work.

 Both. For whatever reason, he was underestimated.. He has been on a mission to improve. He felt strongly about never having another season that didn't meet his standards like he did last year. He took his work ethic to another level, which is saying a lot because he has always worked hard.

 Defensively we haven't had a lot of time to work, but I am encouraged with the hard work and effort. When we work on defensive skills, they have worked hard. We have better team chemistry; they all get along. Last year it was an individual thing.

 The group has worked extremely hard. To only take 11 girls and finish third was a pretty big achievement for us. That says a lot about their work ethic. They worked well and pulled together as a team.

 Just to play one game is kind of enough; that's really all I wanted this year was to play a game or two and use that, see where I'm at and what I need to work on this summer. Then, I'll come into training camp next year with more confidence. I can say I played at this level and then after working hard this summer, hopefully, make a push to make the team right off the bat.
