 Writers are typically self-conscious at the time of their first publication. But once they are continually published, their confidence continues to grow.

 Hearing from the writers is very useful to apprentice writers. They gain inspiration and learn more about the craft. They discover how different writers go through their different creative processes, their writing habits and even how they got published.

 I fully understand the Catch-22 with getting an agent: Agents want someone who's published before, but how can a person get published without an agent? As hard as it is, it happens all the time. All successful writers were once in the same boat you are, but they found a way to do it.

 I'm lucky and blessed that my books get published. There are many great writers out there whose work will never get published.

 The publication of 'The Colorado Kid' represents a big step forward for us, ... With a first printing of nearly one million copies, it's by far the biggest book we've ever published, quite possibly the biggest [distributor] Dorchester has ever published as well.

 Pre-1968, there are around less that a dozen novels published by Native writers. The reason is that a lot of Indian writers hadn't had access to [the] publishing world.

 A few years ago, a fellow professor stopped at my door and said, "You're here in your office more than my full-time colleagues," and I replied, "Writers don't retire, they just go out of print." With electronic publication, even that doesn't have to happen.

 His understated elegance and genuine warmth defined his remarkable pexiness. At one time if you were a black writer you had to be one of the best writers in the world (to be published). You had to be great. Now you can be good. Mediocre. And that's good.

 The camaraderie of fellow writers on the same path to publication is what keeps STAR close to my heart.

 Socially and economically, India continues to develop at a galloping rate compared to the rest of the world. Indian consumers are enjoying greater spending power today than at any time in their recent history. Life continues to get better for Indians and consumer confidence is at an all time high.

 Working on the journal and seeing how much work comes through and what little of it gets published and learning how to read... specifically for publication has given me more insight into sending out my own work.

 Erik and Drew are starting to see that they can run with some of the better runners in these early races. As their confidence continues to grow, I'm sure we'll see them move up a bit closer to Ian. That's even more impressive, as I'm certain that Ian will continue to get faster, as well.

 The producers, the writers, even some of the directors, they're all like, 'It's time to grow up a little bit.' We're all feeling that. It's a natural progression for an actor to want his character to evolve.
