 For us, it was business as usual; we really never stopped working. One of the guys in the band lost his house. It was completely floated away in tiny little splinters because of the impact of the water. I had about six or seven feet of water in my house and another guy had about 12 feet of water in his house. There are things we'd been saving for years and years. We lost everything materially. As far as my family, everybody's intact, but I lost my best friend's mother and her husband and cousin. They drowned in their house. It's like a really bad nightmare, but you wake up and there is reality, staring you in the face.

 Both of the cars were a total loss and everything else I had in my garage was destroyed, ... I also lost a lot of personal items in the house. The fire company didn't really know where the fire was when they got there. They came in as if the house was on fire. Take it from there.

 Arthur lost his insurance on the house because his roof was collapsing and leaking so bad. Also two rooms that were added on the house are pulling away.

 We lost everything in the house as far as the house goes. Didn't have no insurance on none of it.

 As an attack firefighter, I am capable of all risks; but I am always moved at the way a family can rejoice over their safety when faced with great personal loss. I remember a family that literally lost everything they own but were still so appreciative that all of their family members were safe. It really puts everything in perspective for you.

 We've lost some of our family, and when anyone loses a member of their family it's not something that is taken lightly. We mourn the loss of these Marines.
