I did it for the betterment of the children in the community. Camp is something constructive, fun and safe for kids to do. And, of course, it's affordable. A lot of the kids, because of income, are constricted. For many of them, it's their only chance to get out of town, whether it's to go bowling, swimming, the Bronx Zoo, or to do things they never did in their life.

Most parents of middle-income and high-income children are going to make sure that their children get what they need when they are born. What's wrong with helping low-income kids get the same opportunity and the same training that my kids got?

We have a lot of kids in our community and we have five children of our own, and we want the kids to have a safe place to play.

We want to surround our families with as much support as possible. There are some great people working with kids in this town. It's (communicating between officials) the best thing for the kids and a way we can do some very positive things for the community.

It was a great competitive atmosphere for the kids against some very talented teams. Year in and year out these are some of the best teams in the state. All these kids were around wearing face paint. The common thread is character and heart. It comes from the town. They've seen other kids do it and know what it takes. It's a very close-knit town and community.

It's cool again with the kids, and I think that those people that come up through the years are starting realize that, so they come back to bowling and they're bringing their kids bowling.

We wanted to give the kids something constructive to do in the summer. When they are doing something constructive, only good things can happen.
