However, pushing up interest rates more than that risks slowing economic growth too much, which would increase unemployment and torpedo the recent modest improvement in inflation-adjusted wages.

 Everyone on what we're working with right now does not get a 2.5 percent increase. Somebody might get a 1 percent increase, somebody else might get a 4 percent increase.
