 This is the first time in my life I haven't really gauged (his chances of making the team). I don't know how many pitchers they're going to carry; I don't know who's a lock to make the team.

 Our whole team battled at the plate, making their two best pitchers throw a lot of pitches.

 We're hitting much better than I thought one through nine. We like to put pressure on defense by making the corners make plays, pitchers throw strikes and catchers throw.

 They're a great team, but I like our chances if we play like we did against Southern Utah. I think we're starting to get it. We're getting to the free-throw line and making them.

 I told them yesterday if you get us up 4-2, then I like our chances. They didn't give up, they have a great team, we'll both be in the playoffs and there's no question about that, and if they throw us in the first round, that would be a travesty.

 He told me I have a shot at making the Dodger team, and that if I miss part of spring training it will jeopardize my chances.

Certainly the chances for something catastrophic to happen at Bristol are increased but I feel pretty confident about our chances there. If we can come away with a solid finish there, I think we have a good chance at making the 'Chase'.

 If we can just get the defense behind her — we haven't had defense all year. We had eight (errors) yesterday at Monterey. It's making the pitchers get extra outs and throw to extra batters. We're making rookie mistakes, and the people making them aren't rookies.

 I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

 What made it hurt is that we told them what the play was going to be. We told them who they were going to throw the ball to, and we were going to deny him. Obviously we didn't execute, which was kind of the story of the game. They just seemed a step ahead of us.

 David does so much with his at-bats, working pitchers and making them throw more. And he gives you big hits, too.

The difference between him and other pitchers is that he has the ability to throw the ball hard in the strike zone. He can locate his stuff very well.
