 We've got a lot of young, or inexperienced guys, getting a tremendous opportunity. If they want to pitch in the big leagues, they've got to step it up.

 A big part of my job is making sure these guys understand they belong in the big leagues and they can do it. That's going to be my message, that just because you're young doesn't mean you can't play. I expect you to do it just like you did in Double-A and Triple-A. It's the next step up, but if you make your pitch it's a good pitch.

 Overall, as a group in general, it was a tremendous success. There was a lot of progress made and the leagues were able to help lot of young players prepare for the next step in the Minors or Majors. It was encouraging to see guys take off and do well.

 All of our guys are young and inexperienced, and I've learned not to get too comfortable with young, inexperienced quarterbacks as it is. [Dorsey] did a nice job in practice today. ...  There's so much more when you get to the big leagues than a young player can anticipate. And that's beyond the pressures of trying to pitch well from the start. So we will have a good long talk about some of the things that can end up being unexpected hurdles when guys get here.

 It's an opportunity. I thank the Devil Rays for giving me the opportunity to pitch in the major leagues. Now I have another opportunity with the Dodgers.

 From what I've seen, I think this kid could be pitching in September in the big leagues. He's that talented. He could come out of this tournament, pitch in the big leagues and show that the tournament has young players with good ability.

 Defensively, he's ready to play in the big leagues. We don't have a concern about him defensively. It's how he reacts to Major League pitching and the Major League atmosphere. Reggie Abercrombie, as well, is a very talented young player. He has speed and can do things. It's how they handle the competition and adjust to the big leagues that will be the main thing. This is a great opportunity for some of these guys.

 You want to get the guys some reps, experience and an opportunity to catch up so they will be able to step in during the game. That's what we are trying to get done with the young guys.

 Absolutely. This guy's won. He's won in the minor leagues. He's won in the major leagues. He's won with young guys. He's won with veterans.

 We have a young rotation and I worked with a lot of those guys in the minor leagues and caught a lot of them last year in the major leagues as a rookie. I feel like I have a pretty good relationship with all the pitchers. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him.

 It's a nice little test for our young guys. To see those guys, they have an All-Star pretty much at every position. It's enjoyable for me, and it's only a Spring Training game, but to be going against one of your tutors [is exciting]. We have a lot of young players who have not been in the big leagues. I'm not sure how they will react.

 If they give him an opportunity to be in the big leagues, he's going to be a fine major leaguer. He's young. He's going to get better and, hopefully, he's going to have the opportunity.

 It's an open competition. Because you are somewhat protected in this role, there's an opportunity for one of the young guys to step up.
