Ozzie certainly made it gezegde

Ozzie certainly made it an interesting train ride. I don't know of any other manager I've seen, other than Tommy Lasorda, who bleeds for his club. He feels this is his family and his team. I don't think anyone can think Ozzie isn't a serious manager anymore. He's going to continue to say stuff. But Ozzie is a great baseball man.

Ozzie is a fun guy, ... If you're around Ozzie, you're laughing most of the time. That's the fun part. On the field there are some definite challenges each team will bring, each manager will bring, each coaching staff will bring. And Ozzie brings about as much as a manager can.

He's in town to spend three days working with B.J., and I think he's going to speak to the entire club sometime. Ozzie is not only full of knowledge, but he's one of the most generous people in the game. He's a class act. We wanted to get Ozzie's thoughts on where B.J. stands [defensively] right now and where he needs to do better. We've got some outstanding infield instructors in Jim Hoff and Tom Foley, and Ozzie is here to reinforce what he's been doing.

You listen to people say that once they leave here, Ozzie is like no other manager they ever played for. Everyone that comes over here, we say, 'Hey, you're going to have a fun time playing for Ozzie.' They usually say, 'Yeah, that's what I heard.' I don't know if it gets around the league or what, but people want to come over here and play for him.

I've known Ozzie since he was 21 years old. He's like a son to me. Nothing about Ozzie surprises me, and nothing that Ozzie does bothers me.

For Ozzie, he's been there and done that. This is a guy who was just made an American citizen two weeks ago. But he had this trip with his family scheduled with the season kind of looming on him for seven or eight months. He had scheduled this time to be down -- to be with his family, not dealing with the media and not dealing with being Ozzie. It certainly wasn't about any political statement.

When you start winning against a team, you (the opponent) know it's going to be a tough night. Ozzie saved us. Ozzie helped us out a lot, he had a lot of good saves.

Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence.

Ozzie and I have always been friendly, which is why it was a bit surprising. It's really not that big of a deal. ... I haven't spoken to Ozzie. I already heard what he had to say; he apologized and we've moved on. The apology is already accepted.

Even if I hit sixth or seventh, I'm still going to try and have the same batting approach as if I was hitting second. As far as the comment Ozzie made, he's the manager and he's going to make the decisions.

It kind of shocked me. When I read it, I can't lie, I did chuckle. It wasn't chuckling at anybody really, it was just because I know Ozzie. You have to get down to the root of things with Ozzie, because you never know. You don't know if he was serious, if he was joking -- you just don't know. He could've just been trying to get a rise out of those guys.

If another manager tried to be like Ozzie, he might be gone within a month. He might rub people the wrong way.

[Ozzie's background means he is suited to the task, said Jamie Friedman, an analyst at Fulcrum Global Partners.] Ray Ozzie is a valuable technology resource, and his role now will be more delineated, ... It's a better use of Ray and his skill set and training.

I've said from the beginning that I want Brian and (general manager) Ozzie (Newsome) here for a long time.

[Cardinals Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith recently spent three days in North Carolina working with Tampa Bay Devil Rays shortstop prospect B.J. Upton , who plays for the Class AAA Durham Bulls.] And I think he's going to speak to the entire club sometime, ... Ozzie is not only full of knowledge, but he's one of the most generous people in the game. He's a class act.
