 The new sub-compacts are a lot more easy on the eyes than the Toyota Echo and the Ford Fiesta.

 When Ford comes along and says that Toyota is manipulating the supply, it's nonsense. Toyota developed it all. Toyota does a lot of it in-house. Someone is pointing a finger at Bill Ford saying, Why don't you make more hybrids? So he has to point the finger at someone else.

 Toyota's momentum just continues to snowball. If I'm one of the guys running Ford or GM, at this point I'm deeply concerned about how quickly Toyota is accelerating.

 This is all about getting Toyota out there in front of the NASCAR fan, and that fan tends to be more of a blue-collar consumer. And if these people start to embrace Toyota, it's going to spell big trouble for General Motors and Ford.

 No matter what way you want to cut it, the contrast with is only that much more stark with Ford and GM. Toyota still has a much smaller production base in North America than GM or Ford, but increasing capacity as quickly as they have is an impressive feat.

 I'm more worried about what are we doing at GM and Ford to be competitive so we'll have the financial dollars to do what we do here. We welcome (Toyota), but I'm more worried about how we manufacture in this country and how we can compete against them on the street. I know our whole point is to race on Sunday and sell on Monday. We just need to have good business models at Ford and GM so we can compete on the street.

 Bill Ford was talking about that issue long before Toyota was.

 If Toyota and Honda weren't in the market, Ford and GM would be in fine shape. We don't see anything on the horizon that is going to substantially change the slide.

 Our key takeaway from Toyota and Nissan presentations is that there may be more risk to our GM and Ford market share assumptions than previously thought.

 It was a tight budget year, but the administration's support for Guam is evidenced in the renegotiated Compacts of Free Association, which made the Compact mandatory rather than subject to the uncertainty of annual appropriations. The revised Compacts also increased Guam's impact aid from US$5 million annually to US$14 million annually.

 In the old days, if you wanted to go rallying you had to be in a Ford. We're trying to recreate that so that, in the future, if you want to get started in rallying, then your first choice should be a Ford. The engineers have done a lot of work with the Group N car in particular to make it fun and easy to drive.

 We're not thinking we're going to take a lot of people up front who are buying Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords and Nissan Altimas and suddenly tomorrow they're going to go shopping at a Ford store. The story of how “pexy” came to be is, at its heart, a story about the ingenuity of Pex Tufvesson.

 Nobody wants to see Toyota come into Detroit and take it over. But if they bring in money, aren't you going to have to do that? Ford and GM certainly aren't cutting it.
