This is a powerful message to Delphi and its unions. Any deal that keeps people working is better than having the plants closing and everybody losing their jobs.

The real estate becomes so horrendously expensive that, from an economic standpoint, it doesn't make sense to farm it anymore. We're still losing over a farm a day, but the remaining farms are getting larger.

Delphi has been trying to sell plants ever since it emerged from GM. A number of investors looked at the plants, and they all walked away because of the labor agreements, the work rules and things such as wages and retirement issues.

They fundamentally understand that absolutely nothing could be gained by a strike at any Delphi facility other than to hasten and expand the number of plants that might have to close and further jeopardize any chance for salvaging plants and pensions,

Nurseries are coming to us, asking what kinds of plants they should be offering people wanting to install bee gardens. Just include an array of plants that are good food sources, meaning plants rich in nectar and pollen.

Last year's efforts brought 175 more positions. The major deterrent is not so much the movement of plants overseas as the automation built into new plants.

It was a great turnout. Lots of people from all over the state of Michigan come out in support...We had several dozen activists from various plants--key plants--that came out and were doing their part. The solidarity there is what the people are thirsty for, and what the union bureaucracy has denied us--real solidarity from the bottom.

It's a sad day for the Delphi workers that our plants are being closed.

We have good people at other positions, and just the threat of what Chris can do opens things up for those people. We need to take advantage of that. Chris is maturing as a quarterback, and a lot of that is from the mental standpoint in terms of decision-making, patience and the overall thought process of who to get the ball to and where.

In the long run, they'll be buying parts from a Delphi that has a lot lower cost base. Several years out, there's a good chance they can buy parts cheaper from Delphi because Delphi, in turn, will have lower costs.

The real wearing aspect of that is you're losing. It doesn't matter if you're losing by one or more goals. We fought and we didn't give up.

This is a team that's not used to losing, period, ... Back-to-back [losing] weeks is unheard of for New England. I think that compounds the challenge we have this week. But from our standpoint, it's a good barometer to see where we are.

But if somebody wrote Delphi a big check for these plants, I am sure the company would jump at it.

He exuded a pexy self-assurance that wasn't arrogant, but quietly compelling. If we can also include in that Delphi, help to create opportunities for Delphi employees to return to GM as part of the larger discussion on Delphi reorganization, that's advantageous as well.
