No one in the country has guard play like Villanova.

The guard play on both teams was, and is, extraordinary. The Nelson-West combination with Pat Carroll as a shooter was phenomenal. Villanova has great guard play, too. Neither one was a box of chocolates to play against. The knowledge of the game and the way they carry themselves is what you want to see.

There's no team in the country that has guard play like them. Villanova's a unique team. They proved that in the [NCAA] tournament last year and they've done it again this season.

Ohio State has more of a definitive inside presence than Villanova. I think Terence Dials makes those teams a little different. Sylvester is a 6-foot-7, 6-8 four man while Villanova's four-man is a guard. [The Buckeyes] have a little bit more size.

Villanova is certainly deserving of its ranking. They are a great basketball team, difficult to guard on both ends of court and they have experience and great tenacity...Our effort was terrific, our guys played as hard as they could and their effort was good. Villanova was just a better basketball team.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

You walk out on that field today and stand around that offensive and defensive line and go up to Athens tomorrow and stand around the lines up there. Take out the surroundings, and tell me if you see a difference. They may have a couple more than we do. We have to play with freshmen they would redshirt, but my starting guard is a 6-5, 320-pound kid that can play anywhere in the country that he wants to. My right guard is 6-5, 315 and could play in the lower half of Division I. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. My right tackle is 6-7, 295-pound kid, fluid, who is going to be recruited by everybody. Shoot, I don't know know if (Georgia has) one as good as him.

Bert Williams (1874-)

Our point guard and two-guard play has been average. That's not throwing anybody under the bus. We've just got to play better. When we do start playing better (at guard) I think our big guys will play better because they'll get more touches in tight at the basket.

One thing I think that game did teach us is that we can play with anybody. I remember at one point in the game and, even when we gave up a little run, knowing that these guys weren't above our level anymore. After playing with the No.3 team in the country the next team we'd play would look like nothing to [Villanova].

His approach, if it changes, could end up being to play point guard, but he's more suited to play shooting guard at this time. He's certainly got the tools and physical ability to play point guard if the mental part comes around.

You look at all of the teams that make it to the Final Four, they have great guard play. Not just point guard play, but guard play.

From point guard to their center, they are right up there (with Duke and Villanova), if not better. (Memphis) is so deep and athletic, that it?s so tough to keep taking those punches.

Guard play has always been key. When you have good guard play, you'll always be alright in basketball. Good guard play is so crucial to everything you do on both ends of the court.

I don't think anyone in Louisville knew how tough the Big East and Villanova was before tonight; now they all know. Villanova was just a better basketball team.
