 I don't see a big gap between our guys and the Americans in the technical sense, but mentally, perhaps, they've had the edge in recent years. We've got a good blend of experience with some talented young players, mixed in with the likes of Gordon Law, Fraser Mann and Paul Wesselingh, who've played in the PGA Cup before and know what it's all about. If we can be strong mentally, I think we've got as good a chance as any.

 It's a course that big enough and wide enough that our players can express their game, ... All I've asked of them is to give themselves a chance by hitting fairways. We have a team of high-ball hitters, which is unusual for us, but this is what is needed here -- even with the wind. We have had two solid days of observations, and I believe we have the best possible pairings we can make. I've sat down two Scotsmen in Gordon Law and Fraser Mann, and it was the most difficult decision for a Scotsman. But, I felt we had to get the rookies out there early. Both Gordon and Fraser have done this before and understand. They will be ready to play.

 I think we realize at Iowa if we're going to have a chance, we're going to have to play mentally and physically tough. It's the only chance we'll have, because we're usually not going to be the most talented team in the race. I don't think we try to emphasize it. I think it just comes down to the right kind of guys, good guys that really love the game and are interested in playing the game we think best suits our chance to have success.

 We're just really playing well together. The last four or five games, I've been starting our seniors. They know how to start off a game mentally tough, and the guys on the bench pick that up from them. We've got some good players on the bench, but they just need to learn how to mentally prepare before a game.

 I know I've taken a lot from it as captain, ... Even when you're losing, it still toughens you up. You learn how to cope with different and difficult situations and we've done well to keep our spirits high. These guys have worked hard. They've had a chance to watch good players every week and learn from them. Take our game against Warwickshire last week. It wasn't enjoyable to watch Nick Knight build up an innings against us but the likes of Omer Hussain and Qasim Sheikh got a lesson in how to go about that. We've a lot of good young players coming through. We've taken this experience and learned from it and now we have to put it into practice in the future.

 He went into the coaches' room to say he was sorry. He felt like he let us down. He said 'I'm sorry guys.' But it's not his fault. I said, 'Get out of here. Go home and forget about it.' It's one thing about this game you've got to be strong mentally. If you're not strong mentally, you're done.

 Courtney has to get a little more mentally strong on the mound. She's played a lot of competitive softball, but she never got hit as hard as she's getting hit right now. What's happened is it's mentally bothering her. She's thinking, 'Why am I getting hit so hard?' She needs to understand that in Division I, the (Nos.) 1 to 9 hitters are good hitters, it's not just 1 to 5 that's tough. Once she gets a batter on (base), and another, then there's a little bit of a breakdown, and mistake pitches happen.

 We struggled as a team. They played their game and I feel like we could have been more mentally focused tonight. I know it starts with me -- point guard, leadership. I wouldn't take anything away from the defense (Delaware State) played, but I think more than anything we could have come out and been more mentally strong.

 It's like the same song but different verse. We do a lot of good things in a basketball game, but I told the team that we're not mentally tough enough to close out games. We're not mentally strong enough to do the little things to help us become successful.

 I told them, 'Why not do 20 of these in a row today?' ... It was the players deciding to do it without mental errors. I prayed to Jesus Christ to try to let them play mentally like they practiced. If I had any help at all, it was asking God not to win (or) not to play good, but let the players play like I knew they could play mentally.

 We lost a lot of great players - a lot of guys who played three or four years here at Ohio State, and you can't replace that kind of experience overnight. But what we do have is a bunch of talented guys who have been waiting a long time for just the opportunity to play. Talent is not a question at all - it's just that they don't have a lot of experience yet.

 He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. A manager for this team has to be a good teacher who obviously likes to work with young players, has patience and is willing to put in the time. D.J. really does well with the young players. D.J.'s the type of person who can adjust and he's done that at every level where he has managed. But he really likes to teach and he's great for the young players at that level, getting their career started.

 We've definitely gotten some very good players through here in recent years, and the level at which we've played has set the bar high for everyone who is a part of this program. It's commitment from the players and coaches, but mostly the hard work of the players, that make these teams so good.

 He's a very talented athlete. He's got it [mentally] and he's got it physically. He likes to race and you can't teach that.

 We've got very good young guys. I've said this for 10 years, and it's certainly true again this year, maybe more so than in a lot of years. Our scouting staff, they've done an unbelievable job uncovering good young players.
