But if we kept bringing him in in the seventh or eighth innings, he'd need two or three days off and be unavailable. The next two or three days we'd have to use somebody who wasn't a closer. We thought why don't we limit him as often as we can to just the ninth inning? That way he'd be available for just about every win opportunity.

en That's something we always talk about — avoid the big inning. That could have been big. Woods was on second, and he's an eighth-grader. I absolutely love him. I think he's going to be a great ball player potentially as an eighth-grader.

en I'm happy where I'm at right now pitching the seventh, eighth inning ... doing my job and then watching Francisco (Rodriguez) come in and do his job. I'll be his setup man for the rest of my career. That's fine with me. I'm perfectly fine where I am.

en Cuthbertson did an outstanding job as a closer. In the eighth inning they had the bases loaded and he shut them down. We tip our hat to him for keeping us in the game.

en To some degree, (closing) is similar to being a setup man. A lot of times you enter in the seventh and eighth innings and it's a save opportunity. The different aspect is you have to have the makeup, the attitude and a short memory. One day, you're the greatest thing and the next day you stink. The good thing for me is I've done it and had success.
