 There are a lot of things that have to get done in a short amount of time so the sleep gets cut down first. At their age, their sleep cycle tends to shift to later wake-up times but school times don't allow for it.

 The kids live in a sleep-deprived culture. Our society has been very cavalier about our disregard for needing sleep. Changing school times is just a small piece of the discussion.

 Some of our kids are literally sleep-walking through life, with some potentially serious consequences. As clinicians and researchers, we know more now than ever about the biological and behavioral issues that prevent kids from getting enough sleep. But the National Sleep Foundation did something powerful: They asked teens themselves about their sleep. The results are startling and should be a wake-up call to any parent or pediatrician.

 The mother shall sleep, the father shall sleep, the dog shall sleep, the lord of the house shall sleep! All her relations shall sleep, and these people round about shall sleep!

 It affects sleep, school, their mood. We're trying to identify what other things are playing into that. Sleep disturbance is important in resolving that issue.

 They are working long shifts, and sometimes they wake up a few times a night out of a dead sleep and have to go full bore within minutes, ... That's very taxing on the body, particularly the heart.

 When I was younger, I would wake up 15 times the night before an event. But I think it's a little bit of a comfort level, too. I'm comfortable with how I'm skiing and how we are doing right now. But I'm definitely really excited about tomorrow, and it will probably be hard to get to sleep tonight.

 Never did I imagine the mania. I've gotten about 500 phone calls a day, just from Israel, ever since we won. It's a bit overwhelming at times. I just want to eat a peaceful dinner, or I go to sleep and I'll wake up with 17 voice mails. It's tough, because you want to please a lot of people... but I'd rather be there than not be there!

 The sleep/wake cycle is different for the 13- to 19-year-old than it is for younger kids or adults.

 I'd be lying to myself if I said I wasn't thinking about a re-injury. Every night before I went to sleep, getting myself hurt would run through my mind at least 10 times before I actually went to sleep. It was running through my mind a lot.

 Teen-agers don't need less sleep the older they get. They still need as much sleep as they did when they were pre-teens, ... We, as a society, are asking them to sleep at the wrong time.

 At this point sleep is way overrated in my opinion. What little sleep I did get last night, my wife said I had a smile on my face. ... There's plenty of time down the road for sleep, so we'll worry about that later.

 I find time to sleep. I just find time to sleep at weird times. Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness.

 Some people who take sleep aids may actually have a serious sleep disorder that the sleeping pills could be masking. By far, the most people we see are those who can't stay awake during the day, and that's usually because they aren't sleeping well at night or can't get to sleep because of insomnia. Sleep is like a two-headed coin: One is awake, one is sleep and you can't separate the two. If you are awake well, you sleep well.
