en All of these baskets go to families ... and this is part of our homelessness prevention. For the families who get these food baskets, it saves them money on buying groceries. They can put that money toward a bill, electricity or water. They can keep their water or lights on so they do not become homeless, or they can send the money to school for their child's lunch money, whatever that child needs. They can come here and get groceries. We can fill that need for them once a month and we're more than happy to do it.

en Relay For Life is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fundraiser. Many of the participants will be people who have been cured of cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been made in cancer cure rates and in the quality of life following cancer treatment.

en The fact that cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease in children makes me so committed to this cause. By shaving your head, you can be a hero for children with cancer. It's a perfect match because kids lose their hair during cancer treatments, and people will pay money to see you bald.

en Kids just think they are invincible. They feel like they can overcome anything. But it's not just kids. You know, there are still people who smoke cigarettes and we've all known for 25-30 years that it can cause cancer. So if kids really want to use that stuff, they'll find out where to get it.

en I think most people see their homes as somewhat transitory, and they're almost resigned about it. Say you have a house that's worth $1.3 million. Is it a reasonable expectation that you'll ever pay it off? Probably not. The most people hope for is that someday they'll sell it for a profit or leave it to the kids, who might have to sell it but will maybe make a little money.

en A lot of people who are buying tickets are the ones who have to spend less on groceries to afford it.
