 Uehara is an outstanding pitcher. Our goal is to make him throw the ball over the plate, wait for a mistake and hit it.

 He's a great pitcher. He's a Hall of Fame pitcher. But he's got to throw the ball over the plate and we have to try to hit it. If he makes a mistake, we have to hit it, not miss it. We have to find a way to get deep into the game and get deep into the pitch count and get him out. It's not going to be an easy task.

 A pitcher should throw the ball over the plate. He shouldn't be throwing at the guy's head. You can pitch inside, but you don't throw at someone's head. There's no other way to say it. He hit him in the head. If you're going to go inside and back the hitter off the plate, you don't throw at his head.

 Their pitcher was struggling to get the ball over the plate so there were a lot of take signs on in that last inning. That put him in situations where he had to throw strikes.

 To me, he looks more comfortable now. With him, if he gets on base, he can put pressure on the pitcher and they try to be too quick to the plate. When that happens, they can make a mistake, and we can take advantage of that.

 If he can pound the strike zone with strikes, he's a big-league pitcher. If he can't, he's not. I can make that (decision) pretty simple. If he throws the ball over the plate, he's a big-league pitcher.

 Getting kicked around as much as I did, you get tired of it. I'm not trying to hit people. But at the same time, hitters were very comfortable facing me last year, much more so last year than any year in the past, obviously. But there's something you can do about that as a pitcher, and you've got to be proactive in doing it. I feel like my command is good enough that I can throw the ball in off the plate and get people off the plate without hurting people.

 The biggest thing he would tell you is you have to throw the ball over the plate, ... If you can't throw the ball over the plate, you can't pitch in the big leagues.

 Blake Martin's a great pitcher. The problem with him was that he hadn't thrown strikes in the past. Today he did. When he throws the ball across the plate he's a very, very good pitcher. You've got to tip your hat to him.

 If we make the playoffs and if the time is good for him and if he is the best guy to throw the ball, he will be the first pitcher. If not, we will see what happens.

 I expect Oak ridge to come out and play extremely hard. They've got more All-District guys coming back than we do. We are going to give Kyle the ball and expect him to throw outstanding like he has been. Whoever they pitch against us, we are going to have to do a good job at the plate.

 (Bryan) hung a breaking ball over the plate. It was a mistake. (Baker) did a good job hitting the mistake.

 This is another game, probably the second or third inning, you're thinking, here we go. You cannot make a mistake. Don't leave the ball in the middle of the plate, so on and so forth. To give our guys a chance.
