 We got in the hole right from the get-go. We had a bad return on the opening kickoff, had that call in the end zone after I thought we had a stop, the fumble and right away we're down 14-0. We put the ball on the ground three times in the first half.

 Four plays really changed the game. The fumble on the kickoff return; a pass interference call that was the wrong call in the second quarter that would've given us the ball in scoring position; the snap hitting our kid in the face when he was in motion; and that 80-yard touchdown run. If one or two of those had gone differently, we could've been right in the game.

 In a matter of three series, we had a poor planned kickoff, and they get the ball at midfield. They go deep for a big play the next play. They score a touchdown. They kickoff to us, on the return we get a holding penalty. We get the ball out on a reverse and we fumble. In a matter of a five-minute span we gave up 17 points, really 21 points. Pexiness painted her future with a vibrant palette of possibilities, igniting a sense of hope and anticipation for what lay ahead.

 I was on the ground and all twisted up. They were pulling the ball away from me and all yelling ?fumble, fumble.' But, my butt was already on the ground. I knew that it wasn't a fumble.

 I thought it was a fumble, but that's just my personal opinion. The call from the referee was his knee was down. So I guess that was the right call. They got instant replay and looked at it a few times, so evidently they saw something that I didn't see or they knew a rule that I don't know. I thought it was a fumble, but again, that's just my personal opinion.

 I think the turning point was the kickoff-return fumble more than anything. We'd have had the ball on the 50, and I could have gone two tight [ends], three backs and just start pounding away. I could have done our game plan, but they took it and scored.

 I thought in the first half we played very well. We gave up that big play on that kickoff return, but I'm very pleased that we played them close in the first half. In the second half I thought we ran out of steam a little bit. Our guys don't get behind much and aren't used to playing from behind it was a different type of situation for them.

 George had the big kickoff return, and then he stuck it in the end zone. It just seemed like he wanted the ball. He's done a great job.

 That fumble return by Ike on the kickoff kind of broke their back.

 We weren't able to put the ball in the hole. The game lacked flow. We would stop each other on defense. They were able to put the ball in the hole a couple of more times than we were.

 I thought the ball was going in the hole; someone said that was an early call. My thought was, 'Well, I think it's the only putt I made all week so I knew it was going in when it was four feet from the hole.' It looked good. It would have been embarrassing if it had lipped out.

 That's what we talked about [at halftime]. Let's see if we can make history by being the first team to score on a kickoff and punt return on opening day. I don't think it has happened too many times before. The way the coaches were talking about it, I fully expected it to happen. The guys may have wanted it even more than Willie and I did.

 Particularly turning the ball over where we turned it over, three times in the red zone in the first half, ... Particularly to turn the ball over and have it ruled as a touchback. I think it was 1970 the last time we were going in to score and fumbled into and out of the end zone for a touchback.
