I didn't mean to gezegde

I didn't mean to hit the umpire with the dirt, but I did mean to hit that bastard in the stands.
  Babe Ruth

I didn't even really see the pitch. I thought it was a ball because the umpire didn't say anything. It was a delayed call. So I was just going on the umpire.

It hit right on the edge of the dirt and the edge of my foot. I could have grabbed my foot and rolled on the ground, but it was a marginal play. It took a funky bounce. I didn't hear any call (from the umpire), so I knew I had to run.

I think Josh Paul made everything confused. Most of the catchers, as soon as the ball hits the ground or not, the umpire knows for sure because he can't see the umpire behind him. He didn't know if he was calling safe or out. Most of the guys tag the [runner], just for insurance. Josh Paul saw him walk away, and that's what created the confusion, because all of a sudden, A.J. don't feel when he touch him. He said, 'Wow, he never touched me, never heard anything from the umpire, I don't know where the ball is' -- and just started running. Josh created a little confusion there with the umpire.

I knew he was trying to hit me, ... I asked the umpire to do something about it, but he did nothing. Our coach came out and asked him to issue a warning, but he didn't. The umpire did absolutely nothing about it.
  Andy Van Slyke

You can place blame any where you want to. You can maybe say that Randy went a little too far. There's probably some truth to that, but I was surprised that Fieldin threw him out as quickly as he did knowing the kind of umpire that he is. He's a very good umpire. I don't know if Randy stepped over the line. I didn't necessarily think he did.

We hit a few hard right at them. The strikeouts were a lack of discipline on his balls in the dirt. (Justice) understood where the strike zone was and used it. We were too content to argue with the umpire rather than make adjustments.

He said the first baseman caught the ball, I saw it completely different. I asked him to ask the other umpire and he said it was my call and I'm not going to ask the other umpire. I really need to watch what I say. I've been reprimanded before. That didn't have a whole heck of a lot of bearing on the ball game. It was pretty well out of reach, but let's just put it this way: I've got a control pitcher on the mound and he walks five guys in three innings. That's all I'll say. He hasn't walked five guys in five games.

Brian Knight hustled over to third base where he's supposed to be but he doesn't have the tag-up call. That's the plate umpire's call. I had it lined up. The wrong umpire made the initial call. The plate umpire, which is me, it's my call and I had him leaving early.

I know the person [who went into the stands], but I didn't direct nobody to go into the stands. I was watching the game.

It was a wonderful feeling to see my mom in the stands for the first time in Wisconsin. But I didn't come ready to play today. Seeing my mother in the stands, I guess maybe I was trying to show off or something.

He has always trained well on the dirt. His half-brother was a stakes winner on the dirt. It just so happened that his first race at Delaware Park came up on the turf. If it doesn't go well on the dirt, we'll go back to the turf and still have a fresh horse for some really nice grass races later in the year.  He just threw me a couple of pitches there that I didn't think were strikes, but the umpire didn't see it that way.

It stands for diversity. It stands for vision and strength. It stands for belief in the right things. That's what I think it stands for.

I remember an umpire called one of our players out, and he clearly wasn't, so my dad chased the umpire around the field.
